I am a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and currently live in Bowie, Maryland. I serve on the staff at Seaton Memorial A.M.E. Church in Lanham, MD. I am a graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC.
I volunteered for over 12 years with the Hospice of Prince George’s County, Inc., giving in-home care to terminally ill patients and their families. I served on the Hospice Pastoral Care and Bereavement Teams as well as on their Speaker’s Bureau. I have developed and facilitate a workshop entitled, “Through the Valley of Tears,” dealing with death, grief and bereavements. I have also been a guest lecturer at Morgan State University in their class on “Death and Dying.” I am currently an Advanced Certified Grief Recovery Specialist.
Having worked frequently with people who are grieving, I wanted more training and to expand my desire to assist those who have suffered loss,. This desire led me to the Grief Recovery Institute training. I have suffered many losses in my lifetime. In addition to having loss both my parents, I have buried three of my siblings, all from the same disease.
