Hey! I’m Jess, and I’ve always been passionate about helping others. This journey of mine started when I was young and one of my sisters was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Inspired by my sister and her progress, I attained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and then pursued a Master of Social Work with a clinical focus.
During my MSW studies, there was a tragic accident on a construction site that greatly affected the people in my community of Kelowna, BC, and the surrounding Okanagan area. This accident impacted me, as a wife to my partner who works in construction, as a mom, and as someone who has lost cousins in a tragic accident as well.
After the accident, I heard that there were not enough professionals available who specialized in grief and loss for everyone seeking support around it. So, I reached out to a grief and loss counselor in Kelowna to ask how I can help. He recommended that I become a GRM Specialist with The Grief Recovery Institute, and here I am!
I know how transformational and life-changing this method is from having done my own work with it, processing the losses I’ve experienced: moving and changing schools many times growing up, losing multiple relationships, losing my health at one point, losing a pet, and taking on different roles in life that came with identity loss. Ultimately, I am excited to help others with this method, especially one-on-one, in finding hope and meaning in their lives.
