I am Joanna (Wei), an immigrant, mother of two, wife, and a professional in the fields of mental health and early childhood development.
Over the course of the past forty years, I have experienced numerous losses - of health, friends, family members, a marriage, and a miscarriage, as many of you may have also endured. During one of my pregnancies, I suffered the heartbreaking loss of a 21-week-old baby who had already been given a name and birth certificate. I also had to go through a divorce when my oldest daughter was only a year old. Since moving to Canada, I have lost many of my friends, and have been unable to see my grandparents and other relatives who passed away. For a long time, I carried the weight of my grief with me, unable to find relief from the pain and sorrow.
Despite having another child after the loss of my baby, I found myself ruminating on the loss and the pain associated with it. However, through my journey with the Grief Recovery Method, I have learned how to unpack my complicated feelings and address unmet needs in relationships that have ended or changed. The completion of a letter to my lost baby brought me immense relief, and I am filled with gratitude, thankfulness, and appreciation for the Grief Recovery Method.
I want to share my experience and the healing journey with others who may be struggling with their own losses, and help them find the path towards recovery.
