As the COVID-19 pandemic stretched into what would be at least 3 years, I noticed my clients' unparalleled grief. Not just for things you'd traditionally think of the death of a loved one, though there was much of that too, or divorce, but also the grief of things left undone: proms, retirement plans, holiday plans. The loss of trust in communities where people believed different sets of information about the pandemic. These were losses that most people didn't consider that they needed to grieve about. I also began to examine my own losses and could see how a divorce that occurred over 30 years ago was still causing me pain, how the pain I still carried around lost pets kept me from loving my current pets as freely as I wanted. I was always holding a little bit of my heart back. As a Certified Internal Family Systems Practitioner and Certified Life Coach, I began searching for ways to help people frame, understand, and then work through their grief.
Sharing this desire with my clients themselves, several brought up The Grief Recovery Method®. I've learned to listen when the universe puts things in my path multiple times, and I ordered the book, began the work, and then decided to become a Certified Grief Recovery Method® specialist.
For over 30 years The Grief Recovery Method® has helped people be able to complete their grieving process and gave them a new lease on life.
I welcome the opportunity to help you process your grief, whether it is due to a death, loss of a relationship, a pet, health or financial changes, a loss of trust, faith, or hope.
I think it helped and will continue to help me greatly as I continue to process grief in many ways on my life journey.Support Groups04/13/2022
I was able to work through a ruptured relationship with a parent in the group. I subsequently went through on my own and worked through my ruptured relationship with my other parent. The structure is super clear and helpful. It really supported me in reflecting on the positive and negative aspects of the relationships and enabled to me to come to a place of completion with grief I've been carrying for decades.Support Groups04/13/2022
I found the program accessible, gentle, and moved at comfortable pace. I was initially worried that I might find the process too difficult emotionally and that I would be overwhelmed and I would end up dreading the weekly session. That couldn't be further from what I experienced. I also liked the combination of learning from the book and having coaching and support from the facilitator. The book was easy to follow and provided a wealth of examples based on real life experience. The coaching of the facilitator provided additional contexts and provided a sense of security that I would have their support in case I got into "trouble" or needed support.1-on-1 Support02/24/2022
