It was not until one day when she was coaching a client that she realized that the client was grieving from her recent separation from her partner. Recognizing that she was not equipped to support her, she remembered the recommendation that she had received a couple of months earlier. It was then that she decided to reach out to learn more about the certification program.

Initially, she came to the training under the guise of helping others: however, as she went through the program, she quickly realized that the first person she was there to help was herself. Even though she had experienced a divorce 9 years earlier, she did not feel that she had any unresolved grief. What she discovered is that she was carrying around a lot of old emotional pain that stemmed back to her childhood, which likely contributed to her divorce. Having a way to recognize and give voice to those suppressed emotions helped her to feel a freedom that she had never felt.
