Getting Started
No. Our certification is open to anyone with a genuine desire to help others. Many of our most effective specialists started as grievers themselves — people who went through their own recovery and felt called to help others do the same. Therapists, coaches, nurses, chaplains, and people with no formal credentials all train side by side. Your willingness to learn is the only prerequisite.
Cost & Payment
Training starts from $832/mo for 3 months (Foundational, or $2,495 today). Advanced is from $1,332/mo for 3 months (or $3,995 today). Premium In-Person is from $1,665/mo for 3 months (or $4,995 today). 3 monthly payments with 0% interest, or pay in full.
The Training
Each day runs from 9am to 5pm with breaks. You'll learn the Grief Recovery Method by experiencing it yourself — you go through your own grief recovery process while simultaneously learning how to guide others through it. It's a mix of instruction, demonstration, guided practice, and Q&A. Cohorts are capped at 20 people for a small-group, intimate experience. Online sessions use Zoom with cameras on.
After Certification
You'll receive ready-to-use lesson plans for 5 programs: an 8-session group program, a 7-session one-on-one program, a pet loss group, a helping children with loss program, and an alumni program. You can run these through your private practice, church, community center, hospice, school, VA facility, or any setting. Many specialists offer both in-person and online programs.
For Specific Audiences
Most clinical programs teach grief theory — stages, models, assessments — but don't provide a structured, action-based protocol for actually helping clients move through grief. This certification fills that gap. You'll have a concrete 7-8 session program that gives your clients specific steps to take, not just insights to discuss. It works for 40+ types of loss, not just death. And you experience it yourself during training, which gives you a depth of understanding no textbook can provide.
