Without action, there can be no change!To Register Contact:  Bertha Tobin • Certified Grief Recovery Specialist  709-746-0132 or [email protected] Hi - I'm Bertha and I'm from St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.Throughout my career, I quickly learned that the underlying issue for most people, when it comes to mental health and well being, involves unresolved grief.In 2007, my father died of cancer and just this year, my dear sister died of cancer.  In an effort to recover from that emotional loss, I started to look for help to manage my grief. I participated in a number of grief and bereavement sessions which proved to be unhelpful in terms of providing the support I needed at the time. In 2009, I discovered the Grief Recovery Institute online and became interested in not only becoming a participant in grief recovery to help manage personal grief but also in becoming a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist so that I would also be able to help other people manage grief.I strongly believe that unresolved grief is a major - largely unaddressed – emotional health issue which can have a huge negative impact on our mental health and well-being, and, as such, I'm now working to help bridge my two passions – counselling and grief recovery - with the hope that combining both will help individuals re-discover the ability within themselves to transform their own lives. My educational background includes a Bachelor Social Work, RSW (Registered Social Worker) and Master of Education - Counselling Psychology.
