About Emma
Hello, my name is Emma, and I am a Grief Recovery Method Specialist based in the Northwest of England. With over 20 years of experience providing high-quality pastoral and therapeutic leadership, intervention and support within the secondary education system, I have had the privilege of helping young people, professionals, and families navigate some of life’s most challenging events and moments. It was through this work that I was introduced to the Grief Recovery Method, a simple yet powerful approach that deeply resonated with me and has since transformed the way I work with and approach each individual I encounter.
As a Grief Recovery Method Specialist, I combine my professional expertise with personal experiences of loss. Additionally, I am an animal-assisted therapy specialist, firmly believing that the unconditional love, care, and comfort animals provide greatly complement the work I do. I currently have two certified therapy Labradors, each highly skilled in different elements of animal-assisted therapy. Driven by my passion for transforming how young people and adults are supported through grief and loss, I am dedicated to the Grief Recovery Method. I have witnessed firsthand how this approach can initiate a journey of emotional understanding and healing.
I specialise in delivering the one-on-one Grief Recovery Method program. Addressing your grief, sadness, pain, or grief from loss can be overwhelming and daunting, and a one-on-one approach offers a sense of safety and privacy that many individuals prefer. This personalised setting encourages and facilitates open and honest emotional dialogue without fear of judgement, allowing for a more tailored and supportive experience. This program is designed for those who feel more comfortable working individually rather than in a group setting.
I offer the 'Helping Children with Loss program' for both parents and professionals as well as working with young people daily. The UK school curriculum encourages discussions on grief and loss; however, it lacks clear guidance on how to effectively deliver and support young people in navigating these sensitive topics. Additionally, there is minimal support available for professionals on how to deliver such content with confidence, empathy and understanding. As a result, many parents and educators feel unequipped and lack the confidence to facilitate discussions on grief and loss. As a specialist, I am able to confidently deliver the program to parents and professionals, bridging this gap by equipping teachers, parents, family members, and other professionals with the necessary skills and tools. This empowers them to help young people understand that grief is a normal and natural human response. By strengthening the support for families and professionals it supports young people to build resilience, deepen their understanding of their emotional health, and develop self-support strategies.
I offer the Grief Recovery Method program in a small group setting, which many people find tremendously helpful. While you work through your sadness, pain, loss or grief, the support of others can enhance this already powerful and impactful program, fostering a sense of shared understanding and connection. Additionally, I offer the Pet Loss Program in a group setting. The loss of a pet can be emotionally devastating, yet the profound grief it brings is often downplayed or overlooked. This program is designed to provide pet owners with a compassionate and effective way to process their grief, helping them move forward and heal from the pain.
Many of my clients have faced grief related to bereavement, loss of family pets, the end of romantic relationships, divorce, abuse, and other life-altering events. If you are experiencing sadness, emotional pain, or grief from a loss, whether past or present, and feel ready to begin your healing journey, I encourage you to reach out. Together, we can take the first steps toward recovery and renewal.
What my clients say:
‘The sessions were well organised. I looked forward to the next session during the week. Emma was available for contact outside of the sessions in case I had issues or needed help.’

‘Emma was an amazing facilitator from start to finish. I was able to be totally honest with her as I knew she would hold me with great care & empathy. Of course, the program challenged me to confront some painful memories but with Emma’s direction and encouragement I was able to work through these.
