About Jodi

ABOUT MEPain and Peace will always co-exist in our lifetime, but when the pain seems too overwhelming, how do we balance it all, without losing ourselves and our purpose, along the way? I have experienced many cummulative losses in my lifetime, and I probably kept doing what most of us do, telling myself to be strong, persevere, take the higher road...but my heart eventually got tired of "trying to be strong" and stuffing down the pain. Today I can honestly say, I am grateful for the suffering I have experienced, because it continues to transform my life daily. My faith will always be the greatest gift I've ever known. My children, will always be the greatest gifts I was ever given. When it comes to The Grief Recovery Method, it is the greatest gift I ever been able to give to myself, and a gift that I am now privileged to share with many others.GRM is an action-based, evidence-based, educational program for dealing with grief and loss. It can be applied to any loss, past or present. It changed my perspective 360 degrees in knowing that not only can you survive grief, but you can grow exponentially from it. Clients grow from it and enjoy it because it's tangible, and it provides lifelong tools that can be applied to all relationships: past, present, and future. As a former teacher, I loved working with children and getting to know them as a whole person, beyond just their performance in the classroom. I worked along side students coming from broken homes, exhausted at school, eating candy for breakfast, many dealing with emotional issues, and an alarming rate of behavioral issues. Challenging situations of grief and loss experienced as young as 5 and 6 years old. I realized early in my teaching career that emotional health is too often overlooked and forgotten in our school systems. I also worked for two large corporations earlier in my professional career. After the loss of my 30 year old brother, corporate policy allowed 3 days off for the death of "an immediate family member". Unfortunately, the reality of what society expects is often the opposite of what we "need" in dealing with loss. Move on, be strong, don't let them see you sweat, ... even though your heart may just have been broken into a million pieces.Whether you prefer receiving support 1:1, in a group setting, or online, you will benefit emotionally from the GRM program. It is my sincerest hope that you find peace, and understand your purpose amongst the pain.In case noone has ever told you this before.. You ARE Enough, and You are Fully Known by your Creator, always have been, always will be. Blessings,Jodi

My Experience

As I said previously, this program was very helpful for me. I was not sure what I was getting into when I started, and didn't think I needed "grief recovery," but little did I know it was so helpful for me since I had relationship issues with my mother, and I always just accepted them as the way it was. But working through the program made me think of the more positive times I had with my mom, and that turned out to be a precious part of the program for me, since so often the negative stuff outweighs the positive. But in the end I was able to truly feel "complete" with her, and that was so very helpful to my soul.

My Experience

I took the class because, after 18 months past my divorce, I am still feeling fearful and full of pain. I tended to get surges of dull unidentifiable pain. I am very thought driven so needed to understand the situation, while in my head, I knew I was doing right, my emotions still bubbled up on me. The reason I embraced this method was that very fact. I was able to make lists of facts & then go back and look at how they made me feel and then finally deal with the underlying feelings I was not aware of or could not quite access. Then I was able to say good bye. The weight on my soul is lightened. I am free of the ghost of my ex-husband in condemnation of me. I am now the victor of my own life - no one else's.

My Experience

It helped me to see how much anger and unforgiveness I was holding on to with my mother. I was able to face into just how lopsided my view of her was and I was able to come to terms with my own failures in our relationship and to forgive her and say goodbye to a toxic attitude I carried for most of my adult life. I used to see her as evil and overlooked the good times in our relationship and I saw how my own failures reminded me that just like me my mother was a broken person and the only way to say goodbye to the things holding me back was to look at the overall relationship in the light of truth.
