About Kelly

I am the wife of a retired U.S. Navy service member and the proud mom of five children. I recently retired from federal civil service after 32 years of serving military-connected families. My final role was as an Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Specialist, where I supported military families navigating disabilities, special medical needs, and educational challenges. Through EFMP, I provided outreach, resources, special events, camps, Special Olympics opportunities, support groups, and individualized service plans to strengthen families and their support networks. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, participating in the Junior Service Club of St. Clair County, and volunteering with community-based organizations throughout the county. My military connections have given me the opportunity to live and travel across the United States and abroad, shaping my perspective and passion for service. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood from Concordia University and a Master’s in Business Administration and Leadership. I am also completing a doctoral degree in Special Education. Today, I consult with individuals and families through my own business, offering life coaching, educational advocacy, and family support services. The GRM has been instrumental in completing many different losses throughout my life. A tragic vehicle accident took the life of my mother. I was having a very difficult time dealing with the loss when a GRM group was set up at our chapel on base. I attended, and it changed my life in ways I never expected. I still miss my mother every day, but I've learned how to complete those feelings of loss I just couldn't get over before learning the GRM. Since that first group, I have been able to use the method for other losses in my life. My family has had some unexpected diagnoses that were very difficult for us, as well as the loss of my father at a very young age, and most recently, my stepfather. I'm grateful to have the opportunity to pass on all that I learned as a GRM specialist. I live in the St. Louis metro area.

My Experience

It helped me understand that grief is often amplified by undelivered communication, and offered me a path toward completion of that communication.
