About Kirsten

Hi, I'm Kirsten, a CCF Transformational Life Coach and Retired Police Officer. Like you, I have walked the path of loss many times. Death of loved ones and colleagues. Divorce. Miscarriage. Each time I used the only tools I had ever been taught...to be strong and grieve alone. I accepted each loss and moved on. Or so I thought. In 2016 I found out I was adopted. It was a heart-breaking, soul-shifting moment. I felt like I had lost my identity and it brought back the sadness, resentment, and pain of previous losses I thought I had dealt with. Intellectualizing grief had given me much understanding, but very little emotional recovery. The impact of all this unresolved grief was that it accumulated and limited my capacity for happiness. The Grief Recovery Method®️ gave me the tools I needed to resolve the incomplete losses in my life and create the closer connections I always desired. As an 18-year police veteran, I know how to hold space for people that are experiencing difficult situations and listen so that they feel heard. I believe we are meant to live life emotionally free and open to possibility. We all need someone who is willing and able to hold this space for us. It would be an honour to guide and support you on your journey. I currently offer one-on-one and group grief recovery support in the Oakville, Burlington, and Hamilton area. I also provide presentations to companies and organizations who are looking to support their staff.

My Experience

The Grief Recovery Program has allowed me to release pain and resentments I had been carrying for many years. I am now free to be able to observe and participate in my marriage the way I have always wanted to. The cloud of anger and pain has finally cleared.

My Experience

I came into this program not really knowing what to expect, all I knew was that I had unresolved grief related to the death of my Nana 30 years ago and a lot of unresolved anger related to the loss of my closest friend because of a betrayal. I was very surprised that neither of these events were the first one I needed to deal with, instead it was my relationship with my Dad following my parents divorce 40 years ago. It's a very emotionally exhausting process to go back to specific events and remember/relive them in vivid detail, but it's incredibly powerful. The process that is detailed in the book and throughout the exercises is very impactful. As Kirsten said "it's simple, but it's not easy". I really feel that the work that I did, combined with Kirsten's support, has set me on a path where I can work through all of the grief events I've experienced in the past and any others that may come up in the future. I'm so grateful that I had to opportunity to participate in this group program. It's a game changer!

My Experience

The Grief Recovery Method has been the most valuable program that I have completed to overcome losses that I have experienced in my life. Before starting the program, I was feeling sad, frustrated and unable to move on from the past. I had become isolated and hopeless. I did not know how to complete the many losses that I had experienced. In fact, I did not even acknowledge that there were many more losses that impacted me in my life. It was not until I completed my Loss History Graph that I understood the scope of unresloved grief that I had been burying all these years. My old way of being was to deny how these experiences made me feel and 'sweep them under the rug'. I only knew that I was supposed to be strong and move on after only a short period of emotion, to be expressed alone. I thought that was the 'right' thing to do. This program completely changed my life. The losses that I completed during the process no longer cause me pain or sadness when I reflect on them. It is like a burden has been lifted. I feel a sense of freedom and peace. I can see those losses as something I experienced and not who I am. I view them now with an appreciation for the contribution to my own growth and the gratitude for the wonderful moments that were a part of them. My deepest gratitude to my coach and program facilitator, Kirsten Frey. I could not imagine going through this process with anyone else. She made me feel so comfortable to share authentically and always created a space of love, listening and compassion. The tools she taught me to help me deal with grief and loss is the most valuable gift I have ever been given. Thank you Kirsten, for your coaching and continued support and most of all your commitment to my healing. You truly are a 'heart with ears'.
