About Saundra

If you have found me here, you likely have a broken heart. I have seen, supported, and encouraged grieving people for the past twenty years. I am comfortable dealing with any kind of loss, whether that is a physical death, end of a relationship, loss of a job, loss of health, or any of the 40+ identified losses we can experience in our lives. My Dad died in 2007; six years after surgery to remove a brain tumor. Those years were made up of good days and bad as the changes in him became more evident. The Dad I once knew slipped away and I spent those years actively grieving the loss of who he once was. Because of that, his physical death did not affect me emotionally as much as I might have expected, and I felt I had processed his passing in a healthy way. Ten years after his death, I was reading a book written by a woman about her relationship with her father. She shared how she had worked through deep grief by writing letters to her Dad decades after he had passed. I began to cry because the thought of writing to my own Dad had ignited grief I hadn’t even been aware of. I had unfinished emotional issues with my Dad and deeper healing was necessary. Early in 2021 I discovered the Grief Recovery Method and was trained as a specialist soon afterwards. Going through the Grief Recovery Method myself has helped me become emotionally complete in my relationship to my Dad. One of the biggest gifts for me was discovering positive aspects of our relationship that had been deeply buried under the hurts and disappointments I tended to focus on. The Grief Recovery Method is the tool I have been looking for in my search to better support and help those who are hurting. I’m grateful for the program in my own life and believe it is a powerful tool for everyone whose heart is heavy with loss. It would be my honor to walk with you through the Grief Recovery Method as you work to process the emotional pain of loss in your own life. I am trained as an Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist and offer one-on-one sessions as well as group sessions virtually for anyone anywhere in the world. I am located in central Virginia where I also offer in-person groups and one-on-one sessions. Please contact me to learn more. You do not have to grieve alone.

My Experience

From the get-go, Saundra was a heart with ears on. She listened with intention, compassion, and purpose and explained the process thoroughly in each session. She was patient and flexible with me, as not only am I a busy person, but I had a couple life events occur during our program and needed to reschedule. I always felt encouraged and safe with her and I am extremely grateful that shew as my facilitator for this program.

My Experience

The Grief Recovery Method was transformative for me. I came away with a feeling of my heart being literally lightened. The steps really do work if you put in the intense work - I couldn't believe what I was able to accomplish in eight weeks. I feel I now have a valuable tool with which to work through other grief areas. I highly recommended the program to anyone struggling with grief.

My Experience

I didn't find the myths at the beginning real relevant because they were not part of my story and how I'd been raised. It wasn't until we did the relationship and loss history graphs that I felt I was getting anywhere with the material. I shared this with Saundra, and she heard me, but encouraged me to hang with it. I was diligent with my homework, and she commented on that. The graphs made me remember things I'd forgotten and really allowed me to dig deeply which was very helpful. Saundra had implied that as we led up to the graphs, so it encouraged me to keep on. It was the right thing for me at the right time, and I especially liked doing it one-on-one with a facilitator instead of a group session.
