Brandon Kam

Based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, I am the founder of Beyond Life Care, a developing practice dedicated to providing compassionate grief recovery services as a certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist, as well as providing non-medical end of life care as a death doula in training. I am currently completing my death doula certification through the Doulagivers Institute, a globally recognized leader in end-of-life education. I am learning how to answer this calling to serve those dying and grieving because I have seen the emotional and spiritual impact that families face without the proper support. I have experienced for myself the effects of holding on to unresolved grief without having the proper tools to process and integrate the difficult changes life has to offer. Spending the last 20 years trying to run away from my grief, trying to numb it with alcohol while suffering from depression. I wasn’t able to begin understanding what I was going through inside until I was able to stop running and learn a new way through the tools and techniques expressed in the grief recovery method, that I was then able to feel my pain in its entirety, put down the drink and embrace myself. I am honored to take on this sacred practice ensuring that both myself and my community can face the radical changes we experience in death and loss with grace, dignity and connection. At Beyond Life Care, my mission is to walk alongside individuals and families with gentleness, honesty, and presence, creating space for purpose, meaning, and holistic care.
