About Brittany

My journey with the Grief Recovery Institute® began in 2015, shortly after a job loss that left me searching for a new path. I was fortunate to secure an interview for an Executive Assistant role with the Institute, where they introduced me to The Grief Recovery Method. As they shared their insights, I felt a rush of excitement and hope – and I was overjoyed when they offered me the position. In 2015, I became a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist® and embarked on a mission to help others navigate the complexities of loss and grief in their lives. Little did I know just how much I would need the Grief Recovery Method in my own life. Less than a year after joining the Institute, I faced the end of a romantic relationship, an experience that felt like the death of my hopes, dreams, and expectations for the future. The emotional pain was profound, impacting not only that relationship but also other aspects of my life. The Method, however, became my guiding light, helping me build more meaningful relationships and ultimately preparing me to meet my future husband and experience the beauty of a healthy partnership. The Grief Recovery Method has been my anchor during challenging times. It provided invaluable support as my husband and I went through multiple miscarriages on our journey to have a child. It was there for me when I said goodbye to my 15-year-old Lab and my 11-year-old Lab, allowing me to cherish our final moments together without fearing the pain of their loss. Today, I can speak of them with fondness and love, without tears. My passion for this Method runs deep, as I've witnessed how it transforms lives, including my own. In my professional background, I've accumulated over 13 years of experience in healthcare. Currently, I serve as the Director of Specialist Relations and Events at the Grief Recovery Institute. I've also undergone Advanced GRM Training, enabling me to provide one-on-one support to grievers through the Online 1-1 Support Program, reaching those who need help wherever they are. My educational background includes a BS in Psychology and an MS in Clinical Psychology, and I'm actively working on establishing a private practice specializing in grief and loss, with a particular focus on pregnancy loss and infertility. Beyond my professional life, I relish spending time with family, friends, and my husband. The great outdoors is my sanctuary, whether I'm running or hiking, exploring the beautiful Bend and Central Oregon area, or just savoring life's offerings. These days, I'm mostly occupied with the joys of parenthood, as my baby boy arrived in June 2021, and my baby girl joined us in September 2022. The Grief Recovery Method has been a key to unlocking a life I couldn't envision before. It allowed me to elevate the quality of my life, turning dreams into reality. I found the love of my life, thanks to the room it created in my heart. I'd be honored to connect with you and have the opportunity to assist you in addressing the pain you carry from your own experiences of loss. Let's embark on this transformative journey together. If you are an Oregon resident, I am able to accept health insurance for the 7 week one-on-one program. I take the following insurances: Aetna, Cigna, Kaiser, Regence (including BCBS), PacificSource, and United.

My Experience

This program helped me work through and process my thoughts and feelings around the death of my loved one. I learned a lot about grief that I didn't know prior to working with Brittany Johns. Brittany is a beautiful, kind soul who made me feel seen, heard, understood, and supported through my grief. I often felt misunderstood prior to meeting and working with Brittany. I now feel a lot better, I feel as if a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Prior to working with Brittany, I often relived the tragedy in my mind that unfolded in the year leading up to my loved one's death. As a result of working with Brittany through the grief recovery method, I'm now able to remember and think of good memories and times with my deceased loved one. I'm forever grateful for Brittany's kind and caring nature!

My Experience

I wasn't sure about this program at first, because it seemed so much like a classroom approach. I had been to counseling prior that was more deep dive into the feelings, etc. I decided to go ahead and give this a try, since the "deep dive into my feelings" approach had clearly left me wanting. I'm glad I decided to do this, because I feel completed.

My Experience

Brittany was amazing and very empathetic. She also went out of her way to accommodate my changing schedule. When I was finished with the course, she mentioned that I could continue to work on other grief or loss events with her if I would like, but did not pressure me to do so, which I really appreciated.
