About Cyndi

Hello, Welcome and thank you for viewing my profile. I see healing as a sacred process, deserving honour and witness, and I see growth as partner of healing. I am passionate about helping people walk through the pain of what we might call the "dark night of the soul" into illumination for transformation. I first heard of the Grief Recovery Method in my grief course in Graduate school, while sharing about the loss of my Brother-in-Love. The compounded losses over the years had taken a toll on my heart, and after this major loss, I felt I could use some additional tools to help ease my heart from the various burdens I had picked up along life's sojourn. I signed up for the Grief Recovery Method training only to get news on the second day of training, that my beloved dad would not make it through the night. I later entered the program again and found the Grief Recovery Method to be unique in the ways it gently leads us through processing our painful losses by providing both wisdom and small actionable steps. From my journey, I understand that it takes courage and consistent effort to open up and to move towards creating a desired life. It is an honour for me to walk alongside those who are seeking to explore concerns through their own journey of hope and healing in integrity, compassionate presence, in an atmosphere of shared knowledge and hope. I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist located in Central Alberta, Canada. I have offices in Drayton Valley, Spruce Grove and Edmonton. My specialized training includes: Grief Recovery Method Specialist, Trauma-Informed Care, EMDR Therapy, Trauma Regulation and Integration Process (TRIP), , Introductory Hakomi, and PET-C method for couples. On the lighter side, I love adventure, chocolate and coffee, horses, dogs, and of course people!

I can better recognize grief not only in myself and my children but people around me.

It opened the door for self reflection and healing in a very positive way. There are things I wouldn't have figured out without going through this process.

My Experience

This program has given me tools to complete grief recovery on many levels and to understand that not even those who would never steer us in the wrong direction may do so without realizing that they have. I have always tried to figure out how to forgive someone for hurting me and now I know. This course has brought me to a level of understanding why our parents taught what they knew, and didn’t always know to teach us about options…or what those options might be, because they were not taught that either. Thank you for offering this course, I will talk about it with everyone I know

My Experience

Working through the steps in the process really helped me to dig deeper into a relationship that I thought I had done the grief work in. I started thinking that I needed to grieve a move and loss of relationships in that move to seeing triggers and similarities that I needed to deal with that were deeper than I understood.

My Experience

I learned a lot in this program. I didn’t only learn about my own grief but how to treat others in their grief. I grew up being told not to cry, and that time would heal all wounds or that a person I lost wouldn’t want me to feel sad so I shouldn’t. I learned that those statements weren’t helpful to me and when I used them on others, I wasn’t being helpful either. I have learned to be a better listener. A ‘heart with ears’. Sometimes people just need someone to listen and I learned that. I also learned how to talk to my own children when they are expressing their feelings. How to make them feel validated. I learned how to forgive myself in the loss I worked on in this group. I was able to really dig deep into the pain and feelings I experienced and I was able to let them all go through apologies, acknowledgements, significant emotional statements and forgivenesses. Now I have the tools to work on other losses I’ve experienced and it just makes me feel like I’m one step closer to being fully healed. I’m grateful for this course and I hope others who are struggling will give this a shot.
