My journey through the Grief Recovery Method® began as I was losing my once meticulously minded, dear dad to dementia. Recognizing that I was grieving the loss of my father as I had known him for so many decades became key to my understanding that grief is not only about death, but the loss of relationships with people, places, and things—tangible and otherwise. As I progressed through the GRM, I was able to recognize and subsequently resolve long-standing anguish from a failed romantic relationship as well as insecurities resulting from numerous moves from province to province as a child raised in the military. My personal work is ongoing, as it should, and my experience has been invaluable in my offerings of the Grief Recovery Method® to others.
