About Lisa

Lisa’s journey towards the GRI started on Valentines Day, February 14, 2017 when her mom died suddenly on her winter holiday in Mexico. Her mom’s death had a profound impact on her life and changed her fate as it were. Twists and turns in the road took her further away from her 17-year career in real estate and closer to a career where she could find a more meaningful connection with people and be of a deeper service. Her desire to help, support and empower people, to find their peace, to seek their solace, away from sorrow, sadness, and resentment, towards recovery, so they can embrace their life and live lighter, is genuine. Lisa has combined her certification as an Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist with the rugged west coast beauty of her waterfront BNB on Lasqueti Island in British Columbia, to offer you a unique opportunity as you start your Grief Recovery journey. The package includes the one-on-one GRM 7-week program, to start in person at my waterfront BNB on Lasqueti Island. Here we meet for 2 nights and do the first session in person and then complete the next 6 sessions, weekly, online via zoom. While on island you will have your own private accommodation. The 2-night stay will include 2 dinners and pick up and drop off from the ferry. This is the perfect place to embark on your healing journey. This unspoiled paradise will wrap its arms around you and help guide you towards peace. You will leave empowered with new tools from the Grief Recovery Method Program and ready to embrace a future with a lighter heart. To learn more about Lasqueti and the BNB healing package go to www.lisamackaygriefrecovery.com. If travel and the BNB does not appeal Lisa is certainly happy to guide you on the GRM online via zoom for it’s entirety.

My Experience

Taking the grief recovery program when I did I feel was timely. I was feeling 'stuck' in grief. Doing life - running a business, involved with family, taking care of our acreage, taking care of aging parents....but I wasn't taking care of me, and I could not see how to allow myself to do that. How to start living for me, creating my new future that I didn't want or ask for. The most helpful in the program was the relationship graph...the reality of "enshrinement" because of how much I loved and still do love my husband. Although I don't begrudge/regret doing that, because there's just no way I couldn't do it - he truly was my amazing, but it still helped me realize that I put that before myself and now more than ever can be harmful - interfering with my healing and rebuilding my life. And of course, the 'letter' allowed me to voice things to another person that I had not allowed myself to do, some even to myself. Vocally forgiving him, and myself. I knew going into this program that it wouldn't be a magic pill and everything would be okay thereafter. I have slipped back into the hole periodically since completing it, but it feels like the time in between is increasing, and the time spent in that level of pain is less. It has been significant step in my grief recovery which I define best as capacity to carry my grief in a manner that I can have a happy life again.

My Experience

So the program wouldn’t let me just select the outstanding star. I feel like I have been able to move forward and not allow divorce continue to control me. Reflection allowed me to process and discover in what ways I was responsible for the issues in my marriage as well as in what areas I had to let go and forgive to move on. I still have some bad days but not nearly as many as before and I’m able to come back to my work in this program to help center me.
