Hi, I’m Shaegypt Canion, I began my grief recovery journey following the passing of my father, step father all within a three month span. Those devastating losses along with a breakup and retirement from a 21 year military career was at times to much to bear. Life became a roller coaster ride of highs and lows. In 2023, I decided to attend the eight week Grief Recovery Method (GRM) sessions at my local VA. During those eight week session, I learned not only how to effectively use the method to process and work through my grief, I also learned how much grief I had suppressed throughout the years. I developed a deep appreciation for the way the sessions were led, how the recovery method was taught and how it worked for me. In 2024, following the traumatic losses of my mother and my uncle within a two month span, I used the tools of the GRM and later I decided to become Specialist. I learned through my own struggles that healing is a never ending journey; as we evolve we continue to learn, grow and heal. Learning and being trained to teach the GRM has furthered my passion to assist others on their healing journey and to provide a safe space for fellowship and growth. It is my sincere hope that the Grief Recovery Method is conducive to your mental health and wellness needs.
