Timothy Hess

Timothy’s journey to the Grief Recovery Institute® began after his only child, Zachary, took his own life in 2016 at the age of 27.  After several months of intense grieving, Timothy formed a grief support group at his church and began the journey of helping others to find hope and heal from their grief.  As the work with this group progressed over 3 years, Timothy felt led to seek out further training in order to better serve grievers.  Timothy’s research led him to the Grief Recovery Institute® and in February 2019 he became a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®.  Timothy is passionate about the tools and healing of broken hearts offered through the Grief Recovery Method®.  He has now dedicated his life to helping others who have experienced significant emotional loss to move beyond their pain and recover from grief.Timothy spent the majority of his career in the pharmaceutical industry, and he is a pharmaceutical development and scientific information systems professional.  Timothy has contributed to the development and approval of several significant medicines.  He is also a certified life coach and is passionate about helping others reach their full potential.Timothy and his wife, Gail, live in historic Edenton, North Carolina.  Gail manages the business aspects of their grief recovery practice, and Gail herself has successfully recovered from significant grief in her life.Timothy offers group and 1-on-1 Grief Recovery Method® Grief Support Group, Helping Children With Loss, and Pet Loss  programs in Edenton, Elizabeth City, and Dare County (Outer Banks), North Carolina.  He also presents free grief education talks to civic, church, school and business groups across eastern North Carolina.
