About The Format

This program can be taught once a week for 8 weeks or twice a week for 4 weeks. There are 2-3 days in between sessions if offered twice a week. Each session is approximately 2 hours long. There is reading and assignments in between sessions. New participants can join on sessions 1 or 2; after session 2 the group is closed. GRM Support Groups are not drop in style groups. All GRM programs are confidential, structured and action oriented.

A Note From The Presenter:

The Grief Recovery Method Group Support Program: The Only Evidence-Based Action Program for Moving Beyond Death, Divorce, and Other Losses. Many support groups provide an environment for you to share the thoughts and feelings you experience following a loss. While there is a benefit to that kind of expression, it is not enough. Simply talking about how you feel does not complete the unfinished emotional business that is attached to a loss. The Grief Recovery Method is designed to guide you through a series of actions to not only verbalize your feelings, but to help you let go of the pain associated with those feelings.

The Grief Recovery Method Grief Support Groups are not like traditional groups, nor are they self-help groups -- this is not a drop-in program. They are facilitated groups that use the time-tested Grief Recovery Method along with The Grief Recovery Handbook as the basic text, and a step-by-step format. It is an experiential, action-based program with homework assignments.

Spouses, family members, or very close friends may not register for the same group.

Groups meet online once a week for two hours (for a total of 8 sessions, or 16 hours). There will be homework each week, which takes approximately one to two hours to complete.

Please note that all participants must be at least 18 years old; be able to read, write, and speak English; and commit to attending each weekly session of the program with both audio and video enabled.

In order to register, you must first schedule a free online consultation at www.ellenmonsees.com (click on FREE CONSULT at the top of the page). You will be emailed information on how to register after we talk, and you will be sent our textbook, The Grief Recovery Handbook by John W. James and Russell Friedman, included in the full price of $350.

I was, as you’d expect, devastated, and I did everything I knew to process my grief: I read books about bereavement, I journaled, I joined social networking groups for widows, and I went to therapy. I found that, while therapy was valuable and allowed me to address some issues I was unaware of while increasing my emotional resilience, it didn’t help me resolve my grief. Six years after my husband died I felt strong enough to carry the burden of the pain of my grief: a burden that I felt physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and assumed would be with me always. Then I found...
