About The Format

This program can be taught once a week for 8 weeks or twice a week for 4 weeks. There are 2-3 days in between sessions if offered twice a week. Each session is approximately 2 hours long. There is reading and assignments in between sessions. New participants can join on sessions 1 or 2; after session 2 the group is closed. GRM Support Groups are not drop in style groups. All GRM programs are confidential, structured and action oriented.

A Note From The Presenter:

Grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss of any kind. The problem is that we have all been socialized to believe that these feelings are abnormal and unnatural.

Grief is emotional, not logical. Did a death, divorce, or the end of a romantic relationship cause it? Or was it caused by any of the forty other losses that a person might experience such as moving, pet loss, or a change in finances? Regardless of the cause, you know how you feel and it probably isn’t good

This support group offers a safe, evidence-based environment for grievers to take effective and lasting action, no matter the type of loss experienced. This group is led by Jerry, A Grief Recovery Method Specialists, trained and certified by the Grief Recovery Institute.

In this Group you will learn the specific action steps that help you let go of the pain following ANY type of loss or major life changes. People say you have to let go and move on in your life, but they don't tell you how. The Grief Recovery Method Support Group, developed and refined over the past 40 years, teaches you how to recover from loss with supportive guidance every step of the way.

The resource book we will be using is “The Grief Recovery Handbook, 20th Anniversary Expanded Edition” by John W. James and Russell Friedman, available at Amazon.com and other online retailers.

Gerald Balcerak Jr.

When asked to join a friend's GRM practice group I thought it would be an opportunity to finally deal with the pain of my dads' death almost 40 years earlier. The GRM gave me the tools I needed to complete the unfinished "business" with my dad. In so doing, a weight was lifted off of me that had been there so long I didn't even know it was there until it was gone. Using the GRM, I then completed other losses in my life. I felt such peace I had to share the GRM with others and became certified in the GRM.

I live in the Charlotte NC metro area, just past Harrisburg NC in Concord NC.
