Our support groups offer a safe, evidence-based environment for grievers to take effective and lasting action, no matter the type of loss experienced. These groups are led by Grief Recovery Method Specialists, trained and certified by the Grief Recovery Institute.
About The Format
This program can be taught once a week for 8 weeks or twice a week for 4 weeks. There are 2-3 days in between sessions if offered twice a week. Each session is approximately 2 hours long. There is reading and assignments in between sessions. New participants can join on sessions 1 or 2; after session 2 the group is closed. GRM Support Groups are not drop in style groups. All GRM programs are confidential, structured and action oriented.
A Note From The Presenter:
You have come to the right place if you or someone close to you is still suffering from a significant loss in their life and might need some assistance.
Grief Recovery Method Specialists, like me, are trained to help people help themselves by doing some reading, learning some new ways to understand the grieving process, and then by completing homework assignments that help grievers realize and eliminate the stumbling blocks that have kept them from healing.
Just to let you know: Because of the holidays, we are not offering groups until 2026, but we can still do Zoom One-on-One sessions, and accommodate your calendar, call 661.297.1227.
The 8-session Group Format utilizes the same proven materials and methods as the One-On-One programs. Working through the Grief Recovery Method in a group setting affords participants the added value of witnessing and learning from one another's processes in small groups of 2 or 3 participants, as well as interacting with the Specialist.
Grief can feel isolating, and walking through it alone can deepen the loneliness. The pain can be overwhelming because no one else shares the same experiences you had with the person, or situation of loss. I’m here to help you navigate that pain. I will guide you step-by-step, offering tools and support to process your grief. You will discover that, with the right tools, peace and hope are possible again.
Unlike many other grief programs that focus solely on providing a safe space for sharing your story, GRM goes much further. While sharing your story and feeling validated is important, the real work involves honestly addressing the many aspects of the relationship itself.
You will also get an opportunity to address what you can do, or what should you do with unresolved feelings when you think about a person who’s gone?
How do you handle regrets; the things you wish were different, better, or more?
What about the lost hopes, dreams, and future expectations?
This is where the Grief Recovery Method shines. It offers the tools for grounding yourself in the present moment and regulating your emotions. But more importantly, it helps you navigate the complex emotions tied to your relationship with the deceased or subject of grief, allowing you to find peace and emotional completion. By addressing these deep-seated feelings, grief recovery provides a path to heal and move forward.
With more than 40 years of experience helping people deal with grief, the Specialists at the Grief Recovery Institute know that Grief is Grief, and there ARE things we can do to help us grieve more effectively and completely, giving us more beneficial results.
The cost includes the book and all materials. Maximum class size is 9 people, so sign up soon to confirm your spot! Each session is approximately 2 hours in length. I'd love to help you process your loss. Come join our group!
I encourage you to give me a free call to answer any questions you might have about me or the program. Most people have never done anything quite like this, but according to the reviews and the results documented by Kent State University, the program is Evidence-Based and has been proved effective. You can find out more about me, including how to schedule a free call at my website at https://bruce-mcfarland-grm.com/
IMPORTANT NOTES:
• Participants must use a laptop or tablet – phones are not allowed. This helps ensure you can fully view the course materials and the visuals being shared. We will be using the Zoom platform for our classes, but if you are nervous about using Zoom or have never used it before, we can set up a test session to talk, and make sure you are comfortable with using it. Just give me a call.
• There will be homework and you will be interacting with other people in the class. We demand a safe environment for everyone and ask everyone to commit to honesty and confidentiality before we start every session. We are non-judgmental and are not there to fix you. We are there to listen.
• If having other people around makes you really apprehensive for any reason, you may want to consider doing a one-on-one course. Please contact me to talk about it and make arrangements.
• Groups are limited to no more than 9 people, no fewer than 4. Therefore, if fewer than 4 people register, the group may be cancelled or rescheduled.
• The group will close to new participants after the second session, and no additional members can join beyond that point. If you're unable to attend all 8 sessions, please contact me in advance to discuss your options. Consistent attendance is essential for everyone’s experience.
• If more than one family member would like to join, each person must participate using a separate device from a separate room to maintain focus, participation, and confidentiality.
• The cost of this program includes your book and all materials. Payment should be completed two weeks before the first session so I can make sure your materials get to you in time. I will need your correct mailing address to send the materials to. If you are local, I have a credit card terminal, otherwise I will send you a secure link to make a credit card payment.
• If for some reason, the group session you signed up for has to be cancelled, you may request a full refund (less $20 if we already sent you your book), or you may choose to use the credit for another program of any type with me.
