Our support groups offer a safe, evidence-based environment for grievers to take effective and lasting action, no matter the type of loss experienced. These groups are led by Grief Recovery Method Specialists, trained and certified by the Grief Recovery Institute.
About The Format
This program can be taught once a week for 8 weeks or twice a week for 4 weeks. There are 2-3 days in between sessions if offered twice a week. Each session is approximately 2 hours long. There is reading and assignments in between sessions. New participants can join on sessions 1 or 2; after session 2 the group is closed. GRM Support Groups are not drop in style groups. All GRM programs are confidential, structured and action oriented.
A Note From The Presenter:
Grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss. The Grief Recovery Method helps you grieve and complete losses that have occurred in your life and create a new level of awareness. Incomplete communications and long term benefits will be addressed to help you complete pain and unfinished emotions. Recovery from loss is achieved by a series of small and correct choices made by the griever. The purpose of the group is to help you "complete your relationship to pain, isolation and loneliness caused by significant emotional loss." Grief is not limited to death and divorce but to several other aspects that can produce feelings of grief. The 8-week sessions will begin on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 10A.M. to 12NOON or 4P.M. to 6P.M. through Thursday, April 30, 2020 (please note: the group will not meet on Thursday, April 16th.) Space has been provided in the Turnage Room at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 26 Wilson Avenue, Albany, NY 12205 (church is located in Colonie, NY off Central Avenue.) Please note: Group size is limited. There is a nominal fee of $45 to cover costs of materials. Registration deadline is Thursday, March 12, 2020.
