The loss of a pet can be emotionally devastating. Sadly, the impact of the heartbreak of this type of loss is often downplayed or ignored by friends and family. This 6-meeting program is focused on offering pet owners an effective mechanism for taking action to move through and beyond their grief.

About The Format

This program is taught in 6 sessions, either once a week for 6 weeks or twice a week for 3 weeks. There are 2-3 days in between sessions if offered twice a week. Each session is approximately 2 hours long. There is reading and assignments in between sessions. GRM Support Groups are not drop in style groups. All GRM programs are confidential, structured and action oriented.

A Note From The Presenter:

While all loss is experienced at 100% and we don’t compare losses, sometimes we don't feel safe talking with others about the grief we experience around losing a pet. This group will focus on the emotional impact the death or loss of your pet or pets has had on you. That impact includes the grief you might feel if your pet ran away and was never found, or if you had to surrender or re-home a pet because circumstances wouldn’t allow you to keep it.

Heather Lacey

I have been exploring and training in holistic health care methods for the past 15 years. In 2019, after the death of a good friend's mother, I was introduced to the Grief Recovery Method and it fit in perfectly with my preference to treat a person as a whole and not just try to treat an individual symptom or problem. Discovering it has also given me a greater understanding of the connection with grief to loss of things other than just a physical death. Based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, I currently offer in person and online one on one Grief Recovery Method sessions, online session in group GRM, Helping Children with Loss, and Pet Loss.
