The loss of a pet can be emotionally devastating. Sadly, the impact of the heartbreak of this type of loss is often downplayed or ignored by friends and family. This 6-meeting program is focused on offering pet owners an effective mechanism for taking action to move through and beyond their grief.

About The Format

This program is taught in 6 sessions, either once a week for 6 weeks or twice a week for 3 weeks. There are 2-3 days in between sessions if offered twice a week. Each session is approximately 2 hours long. There is reading and assignments in between sessions. GRM Support Groups are not drop in style groups. All GRM programs are confidential, structured and action oriented.

A Note From The Presenter:

Have you ever felt awkward, embarrassed or a sense of shame over how deep your pain is for the loss of your pet or pets? Have you ever wished you could be in community with others who have experienced pet loss? It does not matter if the loss was due to death, a runaway, or return to a shelter. It does matter that your heart hurt and may still be hurting. You are not alone.

As someone who was raised with all kinds of pets in my childhood, there was no space or place or community to grieve when they were gone. Even though everyone in my family experienced all of the losses of our pets, our feelings were kept to ourselves. I was confused and I felt alone. My wish is for you to have the space to get complete with your losses with your pets as I have been able to do with mine.

We will learn about myths and misinformation around grief and loss and have the opportunity to choose one pet loss to get complete with any unresolved feelings you have around the pet loss. It does not matter if your pet had fins, fur or feathers.

It does matter that you know that your feelings around this loss matters.

Spend 6 weeks, 2 hours each week to be in community with others who are ready to listen and be a "heart with ears" for you.
Reach out to me ([email protected]) to set up your pre-session information session and so we can get to know each other before class. I look forward to learning about you and your pet(s).

Before 2023, I was always holding it together, staying strong, and being the steady one for everyone else. As an educator, a parent, a partner and a friend, I was never given real tools for what to do when grief, loss, trauma, or emotional overwhelm showed up—in students, in colleagues, or in myself. Instead, I pushed down what needed to be said because I either did not want to disappoint others, cause a problem, or because I had trouble saying “no”. I learned to push through....
