In 2023, I had a house fire that saved me physically and eventually emotionally.
Although I had actively worked on healing my intangible and tangible losses, I still felt so lonely on the inside. I portrayed a strong and positive "get through anything " attitude on the outside aka "Academy Award Response to Loss". Was this because I was the oldest child/daughter? Was this because I was first generation Chilean American? Was this because of my religion?
My "temporarily relieving behaviors" of keeping busy were no longer sustainable. Although people couldn't believe "how I did it all" with the various losses as an adult (divorce, bankruptcy, legal battle, not having permanent housing) my backpack of rocks (losses) broke. This "rock bottom" brought me to the Grief Recovery Method where I could get the recovery tools needed for these losses (and others as well).
With the tangible losses of estrangement of family members, a thirteen year legal battle with divorce, bankruptcy and loss of career and the intangible losses of safety and trust in my childhood and church, the Grief Recovery Method brought me peace and possibilities of a fresher and more authentic joy filled life.
I was able to speak my truth to estranged family members and give myself permission to feel all the feels when my children and I lost our family cat, Stripy after seventeen years. I want this peace and self-compassion for you as well. The Helping Children with Loss Training and the Pet Loss Certification Programs helped me help them (and myself). This feeling of authentic connection with others is a result of having honest, authentic connection with oneself The result: peace and harmony with this one most precious life. This is what I hope you will receive from these programs.
As a former educator of over 25 years experience who has taught in urban, suburban, rural and international settings, I never received training during those years (and while pursuing my Masters Degree in Education) on how to help my students (and their families) with ANY of the over 40 different kinds of losses (including loss of safety, loss of trust, loss of confidence). As a result, I am on a mission to educate as many professionals (and parents/caregivers of children) as possible on how to help children with ANY loss. I truly believe that this grief education will shift communities from shame around grief and loss to normalizing the experience of grief.
My specialization is in (but not limited to) the human resource sectors, educational organizations, survivors, immigrants and first generation Americans. I am also a proud cat mama, dog mama and cat grandma of two.

This program is for people who prefer to work one-on-one rather than in a group setting. The 7-session format utilizes the same proven materials as the group programs and can be completed in-person or online with a Grief Recovery Method Specialist specifically trained to help people move through loss with dignity and respect.
Our support groups offer a safe, evidence-based environment for grievers to take effective and lasting action, no matter the type of loss experienced. These groups are led by Grief Recovery Method Specialists, trained and certified by the Grief Recovery Institute.
The vast majority of parents find themselves at a loss when trying to help their children deal with any grieving experience that impacts them. This 4-week program is designed to teach parents, and others who work with children, the necessary tools to help children effectively deal with their broken hearts, no matter the loss they are facing.
The loss of a pet can be emotionally devastating. Sadly, the impact of the heartbreak of this type of loss is often downplayed or ignored by friends and family. This 6-meeting program is focused on offering pet owners an effective mechanism for taking action to move through and beyond their grief.
