Hello, my name is Courtney Harrison. I am a lover of people, art, music, Netflix, poetry, and GOOD food. I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a godmother, a bunny mom, and a friend.

I have experienced many losses in my life and I am beyond grateful to have experienced the Grief Recovery Method and to now be an Advanced Certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist myself.

For years my losses were stacking up and I had no clue how much my grief was really impacting me. I struggled with depression and anxiety, not realizing that what I was going through was rooted in grief. I was grieving what I thought life would be like after I finished university, versus how it really was. I was grieving the loss of my pets, my grandparents, and of friendships that ended.

It wasn't until the COVID-19 pandemic hit and I lost my sense of safety and trust, that I truly began to see the impact of my grief. Between March 2020- and May 2021, I experienced a pandemic wedding, going from a guest list of 300 family & friends attending to a government-mandated restricted list of 10 people. We experienced not getting to wear the wedding attire we purchased, as my wedding dress was stuck in New York , while my husband-to-be's tuxedo was stuck in the UK. My grandmother could not attend the wedding because of the risk, and my brother-in -law, (the best man) had to attend by zoom.

I experienced one miscarriage five days before my wedding and the second miscarriage while in quarantine from COVID-19, two days after the loss of my grandmother. Initially, after all of this, I felt like I was going to LOSE MY MIND. Thankfully during this time, I was introduced to the Grief Recovery Method by the charity that I now work for, and my life has been forever changed. I was able to complete the relationship I had with the pain and anger caused by my losses and had a chance to really look at all of the beliefs I held about grief .

My educational background is in clinical psychology and social work. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology, from Southern Adventist University, and my Master’s degree in Social Work, with a certification in Advanced Trauma-Informed Clinical Social Work Practice, from Barry University.
I am the Clinical Manager at Gina Spence Productions, charity#856, located in Bermuda. We provide one-on-one sessions in person and online, as well as group sessions in person.

The Grief Recovery Method gave me back my sense of peace, hopefulness, and happiness. If you believe that you and I would be a good fit, I would love to meet with you and take on this grief recovery journey together.
