Like so many people, I experienced different types of loss early in life, but was really impacted in my late twenties, when I lost a pregnancy and started a long and difficult journey through infertility and the heart breaking process of trying to conceive a child. My experience with grief continued in 2007, with the sudden loss of my mother and the breakdown of a 20 year marriage two years later, which led to divorce. I had to start my life over completely, moving back to the USA after living in England for 20 years, leaving behind my home, business, friends and beloved cat. I decided to become certified in the Grief Recovery Method, because I wanted to help people in my community who had experienced loss, particularly due to wildfires that destroyed entire towns in 2021. What I found during the certification process, was that I had a lot of pain from past grief, that I had learned to live with, but had never really healed from. Becoming educated in how the method works and applying the tools in my own life, has helped me in a tangible way to move forward, it is like a huge weight has been lifted! Now I am helping others who want to heal from their pain, both individually and in groups. I am also helping people learn how they can help children with loss. I am based in Graeagle, California, but work mostly with people online, so I can be there for grievers no matter where they are located.
I am already using what I learned in my daily interactions with my therapy clients and my friends and family and myself. This has been a tremendously helpful experience and class. I am very grateful!Helping Children With Loss05/25/2022
I appreciate the tools and information offered in this class to have a structure to work towards recovery and completion of grief. I am unsure if I have been successful in my recovery, although this program has given me a platform to work on this recovery and I have had some healing through this process. Thank you to the Grief Recovery Institute and facilitator" Dana Nowling ", for this opportunity to learn and the tools to be able to support others through there grief and or loss.Support Groups05/25/2022
I would give the training and facilitator 5 stars, I give myself 4 as I am holding sorrow that I am apparently unable to let go of yet, this class has given me the tools to work towards that when I am ready.Support Groups03/09/2022

I feel much more equipped to help a child working through the grieving process. I have learned the proper things to do and say and what to avoid doing or saying.Helping Children With Loss02/03/2022
I just finished the training so I haven't been able to put any of the concepts to practice, but the program did help give me more concrete things to say when working with someone who is grieving and to be aware of your own feelings or thoughts related to a common loss.Helping Children With Loss02/03/2022
