Hi! My name is Lou, and I teach adults a critical missing life skill: how to recover from the pain of significant loss.
We experience a lot of losses in our lives: death of someone we love (human or other animals), sometimes relationships or marriages end, our finances change, and sometimes our lives are turned upside down by an event beyond our control, like 9/11 and Covid-19. Whether a change in our lives is expected or unpredictable, it can change the color of our world.
By fate or fortune, I discovered the Grief Recovery Institute when I founded a non-profit to help people when their animals dying. I thought that my good listening skills, patience and the knowledge gained from volunteering for human hospice would serve me well, but in and they did. But the truth is, I really was living as if there wasn't anything else one could do about grieving a loss because that was the common teaching when I was growing up. I was wrong, and I was delighted to learn that I was wrong!
Another thing happened after I completed my training to become an Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist. Although I was abundantly aware of how much pain I felt around losing my animals, didn't realize how other losses affect my life as well. I was in abusive relationships. I divorced and avoided new relationships. I changed one miserable job only to fine the next one to be just as horrible. I moved to different cities for a fresh start. I had financial struggles. AAGH!
I learned how to heal my tortured heart and have a free choice to be open to new relationships- humans and other animals. And you can too. I'll share what I've learned with you, step-by-step. I'll hold what you share as sacred, and I'll share my sacred stories with you too. There is a light at the end of the Grief Tunnel. I can say that with confidence because I've experienced the other side, and I hold that space for you.
