Grief and loss are topics that are dear to my heart. Hi, my name is Merita and over the years, I have spent a great deal of time helping others to explore losses. I’ve also had to deal with my experience of personal losses. In continuing my journey of wanting to help others move towards healing and hope, I have immersed myself into a significant amount of professional discussions on the topic of grief and loss as well as trainings. I am passionate about bringing HOPE to those who see none.
In my journey to help others adjust to what would be their new normal, I felt that I need more training to help them move forward. I came across the grieve recovery method in my search and felt that this program was the right one for me. When one grieves, they do so from the heart and the Grief Recovery Method holds this to be true on all levels. This was a program that I felt I could support. It brought back the heart to the discussion and also gave hope to the messengers; they were being heard. I feel this program has given me the tools to provide support to those in needs.
My goal is to help others explore any misunderstandings in their experience of loss. I would also like to broaden the conversation and help others develop a healthier, understanding of the process. I am a firm believer that grieving must be done with compassion and patience. I am willing to help anyone create the space they need and also find support. I am able to lead grief support groups, as well as offer one-one sessions to grievers in the Lawton-Fort Sill, OK and surrounding areas. I strongly believe that no one needs to walk this journey alone.
I am a graduate of Cameron University in Lawton Oklahoma. I graduated with a B.Sc. in Psychology and a M.Sc. in Behavioral Science with a concentration in Psychology. I am also a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in the state of Oklahoma.
