The 2hr/4week program was excellent and just the right amount of time. Enough time for discussions in class and light reading as homework. Very well structured course.

It has opened my eyes to a lot of my own losses that I never dealt with and it has also opened my eyes as to how we talk to our kids and always wanting to make things better, but it’s ok to be sad, mad etc

By taking this class, I learned to correct some myth that's used in our daily language and conversation which may have devastating effects on all of us. I also became aware of how important it is to complete your loss, regardless of age.

I volunteer in a homeless shelter for women and it has given me a greater understanding of their situation Just by askinking a few questions I have a greater understanding and I am able to understand the importance of listening with your heart. My granddaughter lost her father to suicide this past year and I have been able to help her talk about him and let her know it is ok to grieve, her mom my daughter is going through the program on a one on one with Tamara and is so grateful. It has opened my eyes to the fact that my response to loss must change and I believe it has, thank you for this program.

I found the Grief Recovery Method to be a wonderful and positive way of working through issues I have held onto since childhood. My parents divorced when I was 5 and I really never paid attention to how much it affected me throughout my lifetime. Through this process, I have realized the ways I have sabotaged my success because of fear. My inner child was so crushed from the past that I was having trouble understanding why I could not move forward on certain issues as an adult. One of the profound things I learned is how important it is to express apologies, forgiveness and significant emotional statements aloud to another living person. I still don’t quite understand why that is so powerful, but it is! I feel like I have permission to “feel”. Thank you for this class. It was life changing!

I went to the program after the death of my husband. Being the mother of 12 children, I soon realized different children were reacting differently and I was ill equip to handle my own grief and theirs as well. I was looking for help. This program helped me see my children through different eyes. It gave me practical information that could be put into place immediately. I learned how to listen and not just react or try to fix the problems. We utilized the "Good-bye" letters as a birthday present this past Christmas. It was a life changing program for us!!!

It has provided a source of understanding grief. My first comment to Ricki was "I am Irish, Catholic and we don't do grief".. Was I wrong. During the reading of the book "When Children Grieve" I felt feelings for events in my life that I had buried deep in my Emotional Backpack. I have ordered the Grief Recovery Method to use to open my heart up to healing. I am prepared to do the work and not afraid of the outcome. Ricki gave me that gift.

Having a framework for processing grief is so much more helpful than just floundering around trying to cope on my own. Searching and trying to implement other resources would have cost me more time and agony. The system's way of organizing the events and emotions so that a person can complete a goodbye letter in a meaningful manner, is a brilliant tool. So thankful to have met Ann and completed this program with her.

It has given me the confidence to talk to my granddaughters when questions arise. Some of the program suggestions will be passed onto their mother and father for use in the future.

Volunteering with youth, there are always losses. This will better equip me to properly assist them through the experience.

I was new to the basic concepts of "completion" by means of discovery and communication. The overall structure of the theory is clear and useful. The notion of STERBs directs attention to lots of various ways that uncompleted grief can manifest itself. The initial presentation of six faulty ways to respond to loss was sensible and helpful. The main idea is that emotions are real. If we don't allow children to feel their feelings, those feelings get stuffed down and become dangerous. It was easy to identify examples in my own childhood when I was told to "be strong" and deny my feelings. I found the training helpful mostly in completing aspects of my own grief (my wife died three years ago). But it also helps in thinking through my relationships with my grandchildren.

Went to the class to support my son who is an educator. I had recently had some losses and learned about helping children deal with loss and took away many ideas to help myself. I now feel that i have the tools to help a child dealing with loss.

It worked very well, and I learned a lot of very helpful things. I did find the method very narrow in how it seeks to guide people to completion of grief though. That doesn't mean it's bad. It could be better though.

This has given me helpful tools for my clients who are processing losses. I would highly recommend this program to my parents. However, I would strongly suggest that this program should be face to face and not over the internet. I got way more out of the sessions when I drove to Hinton than I did over 3V.
