With this program being a training exercise and not a recovery program, there was some activities that seemed not-relevant as the group was not in an active recovery state but rather a learning state. Most of us are sitting in our offices, or a shared space, needing to go to classes/meetings within minutes of the program ending. This makes it difficult to 1. be vulnerable and 2. understand the full experience.

The program was eye-opening, helping me to see how I learned to hide my feelings, which I passed on to my children. Marla helped me to see the accumulative grief in my own life that I plan to work on so that I can help my children and grandchildren and thus stop this cycle.

Not only have I received grief recovery, but I feel like I can be there for others who Are going through the same. I think there’s a great deal of people who don’t really understand grief and that they are grieving.

I did not realize how much grief and loss I delt with on a daily basis, from job loss, friend loss, loss of a dream, etc. It is almost constant. I knew I was getting by and doing my best but the loss and grief I was experiencing not being healed. The Greif Recovery Method has giving me tools and methods to address the grief and loss. I am now healing and using the tools on a daily basis. I am grateful to have taken the class.

In my opinion, this program will benefit anyone working with children and families in any capacity. I have worked with children and families for over 30 years. After covering the material presented in this class, I have thought back over numerous interactions in my work where I said things that were not helpful to those suffering loss. This was not my intention and I regret these mistakes. I learned a lot from this class and just wish I would have been exposed to these methods sooner. The most beneficial part for me was learning what someone should NOT say to someone suffering from loss.

I initially signed up for this training because a co-worker recommended it to me. I went in think I was going to gain more skills to apply to counseling. I WAS SO WRONG! This program provided me with an unexpected and completely appreciated mind-shift. This training has allowed me the space to grow more than I envisioned I would. I am forever changed.
