I wanted to thank you for going through the Grief Recovery Method ™️ and then the alumni program with me, for the forgiveness of two parents.
I had been having incidents of high blood pressure. After this [completing the Grief Recovery Method™️], I have had no more sudden fluctuations in my blood pressure whatsoever. I take blood pressure pills, but my spikes of high blood pressure — which accompanied panic attacks— have disappeared. Now I am learning that I can go everywhere without having to worry that I might once again have some kind of episode. Thank you so much — now I can feel like a normal person and try to go everywhere without having to worry about my health! I’m very thankful to you and to God for this course…

It has allowed a safe space paired with healthy boundaries to be able to come face to face and deal with the reality of loss.

Timing was great. Stayed and ended on time, many times I was late due to network issues. Facilitator-Tammy was very empathetic, vulnerable about her life, easily connected. Tammy knew each of our stories and was very understanding. Very flexible to help all of us. Smaller group settings made it helpful with the time and to feel safe and be vulnerable. Material was excellent learnt a lot. Very grateful! Thanks again!

The book was an easy read and well laid out with the coursework. The program really helped me see how grief can come in all sorts of forms and that no matter what the form it needs to be worked through to be able to move past it. The program especially challenged my beliefs on forgiveness. I am still struggling to fully grasp that concept and understand it, because things I was taught about forgiveness are very different than what I learned in this class. I feel like this class has really helped add to my toolbox and give me a solid path on what to do when I experience grief of some kind. I am really happy to have that path so I can tackle other losses in my life. Tammy was also so empathetic, kind, and loving throughout the program. She was not judgemental and was so good at listening. I am really grateful for her leading me through it all.

I think it was a great experience and one which I will use practically as further experiences arise. I also felt that I wasn’t emotionally connected mostly so I realise over time and in the right time this will change for me .

Changed my perspective on grief which has helped explain many frustrating past events. I am now an advocate of proactively dealing with grief rather than aiming to be functional.

I loved reading the book and I felt every word written was carefully chosen and the whole content made sense. Then the session (8 weeks) were super helpful. The facilitator made all of us safe explained things very well and encouraged each one of us to do our home work. The small groups, even though none of us knew each other before was very special and each of us felt heard as we shared and felt comfortable to share. I was quite blown away to see how my perception of my dad changed after completing the relationship with him. Yes there were lots of tears as.i worked on every step towards completion, felt grateful for this opportunity given to learn and work on my heart

Unlike other counseling techniques or programs this was the only program that helped to bring things to a place of closure or settlement of sorts. Helps me to lay down my past unfinished emotions and expectations and look forward to a diff future in the relationship purely from the point of view of being better equipped to handle it and offer something better. Felt relieved like a load off of me after the completion letter.

It worked just fine! You can see from the survey. You can call me if you wish if you’d like to know how it was

The Grief Recovery Method Completion was like finally opening a pressure valve you knew was in dangerous levels but didn't have the strength or tools to open prior. I now have emotional, physical and mental energy more free. The process was work, and also emotional, but the energy gained in the end made it worth it. I feel I can be more of the woman God created me to be again.

I found it helped me talk more and find the right words and questions to help my children with the death of their mother. To also think about the end goal of helping them complete their grief.

My experience on the pilot program of When Children Grieve opened up my eyes to so many aspects of grief. I have either heard or said some of the wrong statements regarding grief. I am a widow and I have suffered other losses in my life and I now realize I have to recover from them. The safety and nurturing that I experienced during the class was very helpful. At the very least, I will stop myself from saying some of the things that were not helpful to others experiencing loss. I am very appreciative of this opportunity to learn more on this topic and have already recommended your method to those who need it. Thank you.

As sometimes happens in the lives of the little people we care for and/or love, my granddaughter has had more losses than many adults I know. I long to help her to deal productively with the losses she has experienced. During the course Helping Children With Loss, I learned to recognize grief myths and how I inadvertently propagate them in my own life, in my children's lives, and in my grandchildren's lives. I learned what I do to avoid feeling the pain of my own losses, and learned to recognize what my kids and grandkids do to avoid their pain. What is especially encouraging, is having leaned to DO something productive to move the grieving into completion. I believe that what I have learned had the potential to genuinely change the dynamics in our family for the better!

Working through How Children Grieve was a journey of discovery, firstly recognizing the deeply ingrained myths that I have learned and unwittingly passed along to my own children. This awareness as well as using the Emotional Energy Checklist will help me to set an environment where there are safe places for children to at very least speak their truth. As I have reflected on my own experiences of grief and loss, I am grateful that there are additional tools for me to explore further using the Grief Recovery Handbook. This has been a heart opening experience with a gracious and knowledgeable guide. Thank you

The program was very good and well delivered, but I think it may not have been a great entry point. This isn’t a bad thing though— it’s actually hinted at in one of the earlier survey questions. Entering this training with a view to providing support for families with children going through grief/loss brought up some personal insights that required attention. There was a tension between wanting to dive into that a bit, recognizing, however that the training had a different focus. Not as dramatic as, but akin to wanting to put my oxygen mask on first, but being taught to put the mask on someone else. We were gently redirected when that tension was mentioned. And we were also informed of other Grief Recovery courses that would help address those concerns.

I found the whole process quite emotionally exhausting but also exceptionally cathartic. It surfaced many long buried memories, both good and bad, but left me feeling a great sense of closure and with a positive, balanced memory of my mother. For the first time I saw her as an average, normal, individual with strengths and weaknesses who genuinely loved me in spite of her (and my) flaws. I cried a lot, but by the end I felt quite relieved and very much at peace.

Unfortunately I do not speak English. I use the help of an online translator. I really liked The Grief Recovery InstituteTM. I read a lot of literature on this topic, I have a lot of experience writing letters, describing my feelings on paper. But, despite my experience, in your book, I still saw a lot of deep thoughts that showed that you know the topic that you are writing about! But, I have a desire to pay attention not only to divorce and death. But, and the lost childhood due to alcoholism of parents, the problem of aggression in the family. Sorry for my english :) :) :)
