After the tragic and unexpected loss of my teenage son I knew I needed help. I knew I would just curl up in depression and stay in my bed all day if I didn't get the help I needed. So, two months after the loss of my son I started therapy. I knew in my heart I had to do this for not only me but my family. My surviving children still needed their mom and my husband still needed his wife. I will miss my son everyday but this taught me to talk about him and not be closed up as I would normally react to traumatic situations.

I'm now able to confront my grief head on with skills that she taught me . I don't try to push them away or ignore them. I'm able to forgive more easily also.

Grief recovery has helped in so many different ways. It made me realize how important it is to process a traumatic event when it happens, and how you are supposed to deal with it. I always thought something was wrong with me when I could not cry, but learned it's actually a normal for some. I've learned some things we say can be taken differently by others. Grief recovery has helped me deal with feelings toward my family and relationships I thought could not be restored. I can honestly say it's been the hardest thing I've ever done, but it has also been the most rewarding thing I've ever done! I'm so thankful that grief recovery became available for me!
