Hello, my name is Anne Smith, but I go by Peggy. I have worked in hospice since 2004 and became a Certified Grief Counselor in 2008. I started in hospice as a volunteer after the death of my father because I wanted to help others who were going through the same thing that my family and I went through. I did not anticipate that it would change my life and my career the way that it did. I went back to school and got a bachelor's in science in Human Services and furthered my education in obtaining my certification as a Grief Counselor. I have spent the last 22 yrs working in hospice as a Bereavement Coordinator supporting patients and families in their grief journey. I was drawn to the Grief Recovery Program through the hospice company I am currently working with in the Houston Texas area, and was grateful that they offered me the opportunity to complete the training to become a specialist.
