In 2010 my only child, Julian, who was 20 at the time, died by suicide. Since then I have been curious about my own grief and I have wanted to be there for others experiencing similar (and even very different!) losses.

My son's death was not the first time I'd experienced loss. In 1984, my then boyfriend died by suicide. More recently (in January of 2019), my youngest sister died of Bulbar ALS.

I - like ALL of us who are human - have experienced losses that were not deaths. I am a cancer survivor, and lost my sense of health security in the process.  I turned 60 in 2018 and began to experience a loss of my youth (although, trust me, there are still parts of me that are very child-like). I have been through a divorce where I was the party who wanted out; I was surprised to experience grief over the end of our marriage even though it's what I wanted. 

In other words, I am no stranger to grief.

But I am no stranger to joy either!

Loss and grief do NOT mean joy must end or be absent from your life. However, getting back to that sweet spot of joy takes some soul-searching and action. As a certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist, I am here to accompany you as you make peace with your loss, and journey back to joy.
