Kelly Wilson is a certified Trauma Recovery Coach and Grief Recovery Method Specialist in Portland, Oregon. Kelly is also a Portland author, speaker, comedian, and survivor of sexual abuse who educates, entertains and inspires with stories of humor, healing, and hope. Her life's mission is to help people explore their journeys of hope and healing out of complex trauma and grief. Kelly specializes in PTSD recovery.

Her own healing journey began in the summer of 2006, when she was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, and anxiety. Over the last two decades, she has committed herself to healing the wounds she experienced as a child and young adult. Because trauma and grief intertwine, Kelly was attracted to the peace and hope that the Grief Recovery Method offers and was certified as a specialist in early 2022.

Kelly Wilson is a dedicated teacher with several years of experience working with children and adults in various group formats, as well as one-on-one. She offers regular weekly appointments with individuals, as well as Grief Recovery Method groups on a regular basis throughout the year. As a dog lover and owner, she offers the Pet Loss Support Group. Because she spent ten years as a classroom teacher and enjoys seeing children thrive, she also offers Helping Children With Loss, a group that helps parents and families navigate the grief journey together. Kelly especially loves to offer Grief Recovery Method groups to those who have experienced different kinds of abuse. Since she has found a lot of peace and restoration from The Grief Recovery Method, she likes to pass this experience on to others as a tool for greater healing.

She is the author of the award-winning book about grief, Caskets From Costco, which was a finalist in the 18th annual Foreword Reviews’ INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards, a finalist in the 10th annual National Indie Excellence Book Awards, and a finalist in the 2016 Readers’ Favorite International Book Award Contest. She has also written and published numerous articles, poems, and short stories about trauma and grief for children and adults in a wide range of publications, including Huffington Post and Sweatpants & Coffee.

Kelly is the co-founder of two organizations: PTSD Parent and Mental Health at the Mic. The PTSD Parent Podcast is a funny podcast about serious stuff that explores what it’s like to have PTSD and navigate the important relationships that make life worthwhile. With Mental Health at the Mic, Kelly performs and teaches people whose lives have been touched with mental illness how to write and perform stand up comedy.

Kelly Wilson is an extroverted introvert who enjoys talking and writing about trauma and grief, and has found it less awkward as she has experienced more healing and wholeness. You can find out more about Kelly at wilsonwrites.com and mapyourhealing.com.
