Hi, I am Dr. Mary Crenshaw. I am a proud Army Veteran, and a Grief Recovery Method Specialist. I, like many of you, have experienced first-hand the effects of loss and grief throughout my life. And I know that grief is undeniably one of the most challenging journeys that we all will face at some point in our lives. I have lost a loved one to suicide, a loved one to homicide, parental loss, loss of multiple siblings, pet loss, and many more of the numerous types of losses we endure in our lives. These losses brought me to the Grief Recovery Method, which had a profound impact on my grief journey. I did not realize the ways the different types of grief had impacted my life until I completed the Grief Recovery Method. The Grief Recovery Method lifted burdens that I didn’t realize I had been carrying.

I have a varied educational background. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Master of Public Administration degree, a Master of Arts in Strategic Security Studies, and a PhD in Psychology. I am also trained in mental health first aid and ASIST. I have been working full time in the field of suicide prevention/postvention for the past six years and over several years volunteering prior to transitioning to full time.

I am intimately acquainted with the depths of sorrow, the complex emotions that accompany our various losses, as well as the complicated grief and stigma that can be associated with suicide. It has been my grief journey that gives me such a deep and unwavering passion and calling to support and guide you through your own personal grief journey. I provide a safe space for you to share your grief experiences and help you move toward healing with hope and courage. I am that heart with ears, and I am here for you. And as Grief Recovery Method Specialist, I wholeheartedly support and align with the mission of the Grief Recovery Institute in providing the Grief Recovery Method to the maximum number of grievers in the shortest amount of time!!!
