Michelle Vickers is a Grief Recovery Method Specialist in Southeast Wyoming.
Having experienced the losses of her parents, of faith, friendships, and more, Michelle had one main tool with which to deal with these: move on. The advice she had received could be summed up in a short phrase, "That's life."
Then an alcohol problem and eventual divorce from her husband of 23 years, Steven, in 2014 left her questioning many of her beliefs and challenged her to find healthy ways to rebuild her life. All the hopes, dreams, and expectations they had built in their life together were shattered. Making a living for the first time on her own was daunting. Being supportive of their five children and others affected by the split of the family meant she had to "be strong for others." No longer fitting into the community in the same way she had for decades felt lonely.
A family member sent her a copy of The Grief Recovery Handbook which she read, and placed on the shelf.
Michelle gathered a group of ladies in her home for regular meetings to share the practical and emotional challenges they were facing with divorce and encourage one another going forward.
In 2021 the suicide of a friend made Michelle more acutely aware of underlying grief that was causing people so much suffering. Clients needed immediate help to heal their hearts of the many types of losses they were bringing up in their conversations with her daily.
When Steven's suicide in 2022 brought Michelle the deepest pain she had ever experienced, it confirmed to her that she needed more effective tools for her own healing, tools that she could also share with others. She remembered the purple book on the shelf, read it again, and immediately contacted the Grief Recovery Institute to learn more.
When the Grief Recovery Method provided her the relief she sought for the deep pain she carried, restoring joy that she had not believed possible to experience again, it was apparent that this was the program she would bring to the hurting people of her community.
If living happily ever after seems like a far-off tale with the losses you are grieving, feel free to contact Michelle. She is a Certified Spiritual Coach and Grief Recovery Method Specialist offering in person one on one and group GRM programs in Platte County, Wyoming.
