My journey in the field of Grief Recovery began through an exploration of a personal loss; the rejection of my application to medical school. Taking the time to find meaning in the loss of my perceived future allowed for me to re-evaluate my goals and aspirations. From here, I began to pay attention to other losses in my life that I had been carrying without truly processing, such as my grandmother's long term illness.
Following my undergraduate degree, I spent five years working in a child advocacy centre where I was exposed to disclosures of grief and trauma on a daily basis. I learned not only how powerful grief and trauma are, but also how powerful people are in responding to it. While never minimizing the pain that grief and trauma causes, I was, and continue to be, inspired by the brave individuals I supported. I hope to be able to further assist others in their journeys to recovery and I recently completed my Master of Counselling degree to assist with such.
As a Registered Psychologist, I am spending a lot of my time researching and reading. However, in my free time, I enjoy my regular yoga practice, baking new recipes, and spending time with my husband, our kids, and our two dogs. I also enjoy quality time with family and friends and finding new, unique events being held around the Edmonton, AB. area.
