Hi, my name is Doretta Kearns Tarangioli. I am married for 42 years. I have raised three children and have two grandchildren. I grew up on a dairy farm in Sandy Hook Ct. I resided in Westchester County N.Y. for 40 years and recently moved back to Newtown Ct. I have also been a resistered nurse for 45 years. I started my career with the AIDS crisis, endedwith the COVID crisis and a whole lot inbetween. In Dec. 2025 I retired. I also have a masters degree in counseling. In 2017 I was looking for someone to help me after the loss of my mother, best friend, father, childhood home, and the trauma to my home/farm town from the Sandy Hook school shooting. It was a cumulative loss over a six year period, on top of a life time of grief regarding my daughter who has a severe learning disability. In my search for help I found a grief recovery specialist in my area on psychology today. I completed the book and all the sessions. I loved the book, the philosophy of the program, the exercises, and the action oriented program. Having belief in this program, as it has helped myself, and knowing I can help others I became a grief recovery specialist in 2018. This program also fit well with my other credentials and life goals. My goal is to help as many people as I can with any and all types of loss, especially grieving parents of LD children, nurses, and people experiencing loss related to their health. I have in the past done 1:1 intervention using the GRM. Since my recent retirement in December 2025 I now have time and I would like to focus more on reaching others in need using the grief recovery method.
