The program has made me confront my grief of several events in the past. Has made me realized some other more in depth things that I have to work of myself. Made me learn how important it is to express my feelings. Has made me think about how my communication matters in my family relationships (specially my daughter) Has made me bring out the pain I have hold inside for many years. I feel my heart and life less heavy.

Julie was wonderful, always there with a hug, a kind word or a tissue! She made me feel at ease instantly and allowed me to open up in a way I find difficult to do with other people.

Literally this program was a life saver. Never have I ever been in such a low place. I experienced so many overwhelming emotions and physical side effects that I was scared. I was scared for my sanity and well being. Learning about grief and how it takes on different forms mentally, physiologically and physically and how to counter it all made sense. Thank you.

The program made me feel "normal" and helped me understand my grief. My grief was not just one thing----it was sooooo many things combined. Margie did an amazing job help me work through all my feelings.

I can very much appreciate and see the value of the process. I did not get the completion I was looking for because I’m dealing with different kinds of grief and loss due to events of loss resulting in a loss of faith, not addressed in these 8 weeks.

I am a big fan of Brian! I would say the program was maybe a bit longer than what I needed. Just for where I was at with my own recovery when I started the program. I also didn't really feel like I had loose ends or needed to heal my relationship with my deceased family member, which was the major focus. I don't have anything negative to say at all about the whole thing, it seems like it has helped a lot of people immensely. It did help me as well to have a support group in general.

June 22, 2023 I am so thankful to Hospice of Yuma for providing The Grief Recovery Method Program. Being a part of this program has given me a safe place to share my grief for the loss of my mom and my brother. Emilia and Lorenia are both such compassionate counselors, excellent facilitators, and made the group so comforting. I learned a great deal about myself and how grief can affect both the mind and the body in many ways. I learned that grief could cause changes in memory, behavior, sleep, and even body function, which can also lead to cognitive effects. I learned to be gentle with myself and begin to let go of the grief. I would recommend this program to anyone that has experienced any kind of loss. This program walks you through your grief and teaches you how to begin to heal. It gives you a safe environment to just speak and be heard, and “be a heart with ears” to others. The group has a strict confidentiality clause in place and does not allow judgement, so you can just be yourself. Before this program, I felt very alone. Being the last person alive in my family has made me feel this way. The Grief Recovery Method Program has allowed me to heal and begin moving toward a new life full of possibilities. I would like to give a BIG thank you to Emilia and Lorenia, and would also like to say thank you to Hospice of Yuma for providing such an important program for the Yuma Community! Sincerely, Maria Doten

This program helped me realize that I had been using STERBs to avoid my grief. I learned that it is okay not to be okay, and to be open and honest about how I was feeling. I learned that part of my grief was due to some incomplete items in my relationship, and this program helped me identify and complete those items.
