This program taught me to focus on my feelings, which is something that we are not taught to do. We learn to run away from our feelings so it's new and difficult, but rewarding.

This program was very informative about the subject of grief and revealed many inaccuracies that are passed down in families and through society. I felt safe and comfortable in sharing about my grief through this program. The facilitator was gentle in her guidance through discovering my personal grief and helped by her sharing of her grief journey.

Cassandrea was transparent and encouraged others to be open and honest and created the atmosphere where the rest of the students felt comfortable to open up and share their thoughts and feelings. She set the tone and explained that all conversations were confidential and everyone agreed to leave them in the setting(keep the conversation confidential).

It has helped me to verbalize how I feel. It has also helped me to understand I am not the only one who feels like I do.

The program was so beneficial in my healing. It helped me feel lighter and know that I will still miss my husband and the life we shared and planned for but the pain does not need to be as intense or be as heavy. I will still have moments of sadness but that's all they will be is moments, not the entire day (or days). Kari was amazing, I'm so glad I joined this program.

The program gave me some tools and food for thought on how to deal with my grief. I realize this is an ongoing process, but with what I learned in this program I should be able to handle certain issues as they come up

Joe was an excellent facilitator. He was able to gently correct me and move my focus back to one of recovering from the grief of the damaged and dysfunctional relationship with my late father when it veered off course.

The reading was meaningful and I made numerous notes in the margins and underlined specifics to review. Homework was hard during the last half but by taking intentional action to complete it created discoveries, better understanding of behaviors, and completion. The group experience developed bonds of validation and empathetic support. It works; I have not cried in six days which is the longest time without tears since my husband died on 10/06/2021.

The GRM was excellent. It helped to identify some causes of grief & to develop some personal coping skills to come to term with my emotional pain of loss of my beloved. I feel a bit stronger to attempt to move on with my life & perhaps Try something new. Maybe I have gained a bit of maturity of understanding myself & my small bit of healing. I know I should also be patient with myself & reach out to those who care, although that is difficult for me, & perhaps can work on that.

I have quit focusing on the grief I have experienced with my birth mother and feel that I can now move on without her. There are other aspects of my life which I think will benefit from working through the process and I know I have already bought an extra book to give a friend plus one of the resources for children as my brother has brought a family over from Ukraine and the young boy appears to be having some difficulty knowing that his father and grandfather who remain in Ukraine are facing so much danger. My grandson's maternal grandmother is a residential school survivor and I am hoping this program may help her as she continues to deal with difficult emotions as a result of what happened to her - one of her other daughters is a social worker and I am hoping that she will be interested in getting the program run for some of her clients.

My husband, died suddenly of heart attack, Nov 30. 2020 four months before he was to retire. I attended two prior Bereavement programs, one 11 week with Pilgrims (Edmonton) , Jan 2021 with my daughter living in Thailand, me in Edmonton. Due to covid she was unable to come home. During this shocked phase of grief this program was a Godsend. The second was 8 week (Pilgrims) with widow/widowers only, May 2021. Trying to even recognize myself has been a slow, halting, bit by bit experience. and I am fully a year past that program. My sister was killed in a car crash March 2023 ... triggering a new even heavier more varied layers of pain, paralysis, sadness and sense of being very lost in this realm. She and I one another's "touchstones" Then I saw The Grief Recovery Method in Central Lions program schedule. I was thinking that my state needs improvement but is precipitated by losses in the recent couple years. The Grief History Graph is such an eye opener. ..and a hopeful one! Resolution and Completeness regarding events from about my age 10-25 that separated me from my early support network, ..what an amazing revelation In August I will see my five siblings, all grieving for our sister .. The GRM has given me insight into how to keep things more comfortable during these family visits. It is like I can begin to see with clarity in certain respects for the first time since I was 10 years old. What a gift to enter the final decade or so ...even if just 5 years, less crippled and in relative daylight. Gratefully yours, Andrea
