Once I wrote my completion letter and had Ms. Reid there to coach me through that process, I felt a great sense of relief. I can now walk away with her advice and remember how it helped me in that moment. After her coaching, I ripped up the letter and relationship graph with more confidence and conviction.

I did not realize how much grief I was carrying. In looking at grief from a new perspective, I was able to see many situations I have been holding on to. Some of them I have been carrying on purpose, but there are also situations that I hold without even having an intent to carry them. I was able to let go of some very hard feelings about losing my mom. On top of that, during this same time, I was able to look at my relationship with my spouse in a new way. I will do grief work on that relationship, but I have come to appreciate my spouse in new ways since I have started examining my grief. I learned A Lot. Overall, it was a very good experience. I have recommended it to others already.

The program helped me identify some not so obvious losses in my life. It also helped me to realize and understand the idea of wanting a relationship to have been different, better or more affects my ability to move through my grief. The exercises culminating in the completion letter were very beneficial in helping me voice my part in my relationship with my son who died and to make my apologies, to forgive and to say things I needed to say.

Helped me say goodbye to my deceased mother, and address 2-3 traumatic episodes during high school. Was finally able to say I forgive, not forgotten, but able to say goodbye!

I have broader thoughts about the loss that I was experiencing. I have changed my manner of addressing others about their loss _grief. I am re focusing on my feelings, emotions and thoughts about death, the deceased, and my heart break.

The depth of the emotional experience of writing, then sharing the completion letter took me by surprise because as someone with 45+ years of 12-step recovery, much of the process up to that point, while different in format from AA 4th-5th steps, felt similar to work I’d done many times before. But reading the letter felt profoundly emotional. The next day I noticed right away that an inner shift had occurred — certain reminders of the past were simply not triggering those unwelcome reactions of contempt, judgment, blame, or ruminative story loops. Most important, a week out from course completion I am seeing unmistakable improvement in the chronic gastritis that brought me to the GRM. I had suspected that unresolved grief was a making me physically ill, and now feel I have confirmation. I’m very grateful and will refer friends to the GRM without hesitation.

It has helped me think differently about previous loss as well as look differently at current situations.

I was slightly skeptical, at first, but I discovered so much about myself that I didn't know in addition to learning about grief. There were things that I had suppressed without realizing, words and thoughts that I couldn't bring myself to say or write and I was able to overcome this by the end of the program. I am looking forward to doing this with my other unfinished relationships!

It has provided one framework and system for understanding and coping with grief. Very helpful to me currently and hopefully in the future for myself and children.

I found the Grief Recovery Program practical and applicable to most everyone’s situations of loss. I found that it unearthed the roots of my past losses and SERBS, that was a chain that linked me to repeated behaviors with little if any healthy outcomes. After each exercise I discovered valuable information about myself along with helpful information to release me from and to help me complete the work necessary to change the stagnant cyclical indulgence of ineffective behaviors. Faith without works is dead and I’m so pleased to have put the two together to successfully make a difference in my life and others. No man is and island and no one has to stand alone.

The Grief Method Program helped me to look at my grief in a new way. To debunk some of the myths and to continue reviewing additional losses on my Loss Graph.

This program was so enlightening and helpful during my divorce. During the process I've already indetified 3 other losses that I would like to complete using the Grief Recovery Method. The method validated the feelings someone experiancing grief goes through instead of dismissing them with the myths and unhelpful comments. I learned how to acknowledge and accept my feelings and my story and the relationship graph and completion letter really help you let go of the pain. I also learned how to be a respectful and effective listener and the power in being able to share your story without judgement, questions or criticism. I have already recommended this program to many of my friends and family. I look forward to continuing the work of recovery and hopefully being able to help my children, friends and family learn a better way to grieve.

The program helped me uncover and address a loss that had been buried. I’m very grateful for that. I will continue to use these tools to address additional losses that have bogged me down.
