Understanding of the myths of grief was very helpful. Being heard by the other participants was appreciated. Having new tools to complete the grief cycle will be used again.

Before the course, what I saw mostly was the loss, gaping void of what was no longer there, the betrayal, the abandonment, the wrongness of it all, and my own victimhood. There was so much evidence of it always in front of me, all the time. The triggers were ever present and I at their mercy! Through the course, I found many valuable insights: - empathy for myself through the review of my loss history and patterns - compassionate acceptance of my role in the loss(es) I was grieving - forgiveness for myself as well as the other person(s) - evidence of all the love and goodness that was ALSO present in my relationship with the person(s) in question, even if it was in the past - a chance to finally communicate so much that had been left unspoken between me and the other person(s) All this helped heal my pain at a level I haven't experienced before! It's not that the pain doesn't come up anymore, however it doesn't feel as raw, as gripping as it used to be. I have found ways to soothe and console myself in more meaningful, love-focused ways. It has helped me get unstuck in many areas of my life. It's still a process, but the progress I have felt and others have commented on is remarkable. I am very grateful to have found this program.

The grief recovery method helped me learn a lot about myself specially in the emotional aspect. I am not an emotional person as I am more of a stoic but I learned from grief recovery that it is perfectly ok to feel and express your feelings, in fact it is very beneficial and liberating. I also learned to listen to others without judging them. I learned about the relationship graph where you can examine and be aware of your deepest emotions that you experienced with the person or event that you are grieving about. I also learned about the STERBS or the unhealthy habits we develop to deal with grief. I also learned about completion through apologies, forgiveness and acknowledgement. Overall, it was a great learning experience. Thank you.

I liked the way the program broke down the work one step at a time. I didn't know how I was going to tackle the grief / loss of my childhood because of my narcissist mom. But each week broke down difficult steps to manageable ones.

The definition of grief has a deeper meaning than just a loss of a love one.

I have never written a good bye letter and I feel like I am free from thoughts that I never could say outloud. I 10/10 recommend this to everyone, as everyone looses someone.

I am very grateful for the initial recommendation of the Grief Recovery Method book. I began to read it as soon as I received it. I also began to share what I was learning with others. We as a group decided to ask Fr. Peter Gelfer to be our facilitator which he agreed to do so. It has been a grate blessing. I have continued to use the tools he provided.

It just ended yesterday and I am still processing. Much improvement has occurred but there are still some leftover feelings of grief so I will have to continue the process in some way.

I had 1st come in 2001 to work the program on my late wife. I got to work with Russell Friedman and ended working on my Dad who was still alive. I went home and continued to work with a GRM counselor on my wife and on others. When my brother died I knew where to go. I hadn't done this in years and decided to reach out to the Institute. I chose Sandy b/c of availability and cost. She was so worth it.

The Grief Recovery Method helped me come to terms with the unravelling of my marriage, the loss of the relationship with the person I thought I would spend my life with. It forced me to look at both the good and the bad aspects of my relationship through a commitment to total honesty. For the last year I have been very focused on villainizing my ex-spouse from a place of hurt, anger and grief. Through the relationship graph, I was able to look back and see that there were moments that were good in the relationship, and those needed to be acknowledged as a part of my healing journey. Writing the letter at the very end of the program was incredibly therapeutic, being able to say the things that I have maybe said to others about my relationship, but never had the opportunity to say to my ex-spouse. I am incredibly grateful that the Grief Recovery Method found me!

This program helped me to look at grief and loss through a completely different lense. I saw that things I did not realize we're losses were tremendous losses. I plan on using the Grief Recovery Method to work through many other losses I have experienced.

I've been working on my personal growth since 2008. This programme was really helpful compared to the courses, reading and coaching I've done so far. The Grief Recovery Method helped me deal with some upsetting features of my life, that I couldn't before. Jess' empathy and listening, and her ability to speak into what I was feeling made it possible. I did this with an incredible group of people too. I'll never forget it.

I now have processes and methods to become complete with any relationship. I feel I have more work to do to get complete with the relationship with my Dad but I do have a way to work on it now. I would have liked the program to be a bit longer to help me get in the habit of completing relationships.
