Being his caretaker watching him decline over 10 months brought on its own trauma anger sadness and hopelessness the program to help me deal through it and also Gina with her advice and calm demeanour

The graphs were particularly helpful, as was the homework (heartwork). Having to verbalise this during online session was very different to anything else I've experienced in therapy. Was heartwarming to verbalise feelings in a safe place, with no interruptions whilst speaking, and no one trying to "fix" me or give unsolicited advice.

The facilitator was warm, caring, empathetic and knowledgable. The program itself and the process was excellent. Actively participating by attending the sessions and doing the reading and homework was structured in a way that was effective.

The program assisted me to heal and move on from my disappointing and hurtful relationship with my mother. After she passed away I was still feeling all the pain, frustration and anger that had built up in me over a lifetime. The course helped me reflect, put into words my pent up feelings and gave me a channel in which to let go of them by forgiving my mother for her inadequacies. I realise that this is a process that will continue for a while but already feel much more at peace about my relationship with her now that I have been able to express my pent up hurt. I now have the tools to continue changing my reaction to my sad memories of her, forgive and move on with my relationship to her. Thank you.

The program ended up working well for me when at first i thought it wasn't going to address my grief and loss which i had been experiencing before during and after moving countries in March of this year. I found the facilitator genuinely open to hearing my concerns and questions around cultural safety Firstly i was struggling with the language and what i experienced to be a very prescriptive, clinical and individualistic approach to addressing a stressful and complex situation. I also felt challenged by some of the language eg: the word “ griever”a totally alien term to my ears which i found was a strange way to describe a grieving soul . For some reason i decided to to forge ahead and complete the course as i instinctively knew i could trust the facilitator who i had known prior to doing the programme… Im so glad i did because i stepped out by choice from familiar territory into an unknown landscape trusting her guidance and in the process it was definitely worth the risk. Thank you so much ill keep using the program for along time to come to work on other areas of my life where there remains unfinished business across a diverse range of relationships…

Learning steps in grief recovery & the process in how to recover from grief was very helpful in my own grief recovery. I have struggled with a lot of loss in my life & loss of people very close to me; my husband, my parent, a child, & even though I know there are several types of losses these are the ones that always stand out for me. Having a process to go through let’s me know when I am or am not doing ok but at least how to deal/cope & that the process takes time, & that all of my feelings & emotions are valid. I have gone back to the book from the class several times as a reference for recovery.

I learned that I have buried several griefs and losses in my past. I have partially used some of the tools that I now possess but just didn’t know how to effectively use them.

The programme helped me uncover a lot of things that I needed to say to my spouse and also helped me identify the recovery components I needed to apply. Prior to attending this programme, I had never heard of this method of dealing with the pain of loss, and I found it very helpful to be able articulate how I felt about different events that had occurred in my relationship.

This program has increased the depth of my compassion for people, and helped me feel more connected in both a small scale and large scale way. I also feel more open and able to to live through the ups and downs that are inevitable in life.

Doing the Grief Recovery Method sessions has been life-changing for me. I have been in a marriage that has caused me great grief due to infidelity, yet my husband kept saying he could not deal with me talking about how hurt I was, which effectively left me with a mountain of unexpressed emotions. Doing these sessions was fantastic because it allowed me to voice all the hurt and pain but within the context of a marriage where I had also experienced some really good times, and I was now able to talk about both. It also helped me to stay balaced and to see the relationship in its true light. This was so freeing and I cannot express enough how Grief Coach, Detola Amure, helped me to feel comfortable to express all I needed to. At the end of the last session, I knew it was truly the end of who I felt I was (voiceless) to being the woman I am meant to be, speaking the truth fearlessly. Thank you Grief Recovery Method Team and Coach Detola Amure!

Words cannot express my gratitude for Cindy and the Grief Recovery Method. I am 52 and I woke up one morning with an overwhelming need to forgive my mother. I had no idea that grieving would have anything to do with forgiving someone. The GRM helped me to see that forgiving my mom included grieving a loss of a mom, even though she is still alive. If it hadn’t been for the recommendation of my friends, I would have never been able to experience this turning point in my life with Cindy and the program. My work with Cindy was done virtually and her authenticity and ability to be present made it possible for me to feel as if we were in her space in Washington. I felt safe and with a professional. The virtual experience was never an issue. In the past, I have seen counselors and never really reached a “closing” point on my issues. The formula of the program specifically addressed my loss of a childhood/mother in 8 sessions. After reading reviews on the main GRM website, I was wondering if my loss was appropriate for this method. So many of the comments were centered around loss of a husband or marriage or specific person; things/people that were “over/done”. The GRM addressed my loss of a childhood with precision and authenticity. My mom is still alive. I am so grateful that I didn’t need to wait until she was gone to find peace and forgiveness. I don’t know what our relationship will look like in the future, but all that truly matters is that I have finally found the peace in my soul that I have longed for. There were specific structured program exercises every session and to be able to have Cindy as my guide was truly a magical experience. Cindy’s ability to be emotionally present and connected to heart and soul was incredible, inspiring and safe. She truly has a heart of gold and I felt as though I could trust her from the moment we met. I feel blessed to have found her and the program. The friends that recommended Cindy told me that the work they did with her and the GRM changed their lives as well. I have a history of 30 years in a recovery program and have done much work around self growth. This work has been with counselors and well as self help. The GRM addressed more layers of the onion than I was even aware of, and I was able to clear my soul and find more peace living my life than I ever imagined possible. Cindy was the conduit of finding my peace and freedom. I truly feel a sense of freedom from a season of my life. It is over and the time is now, I am free to choose and I had no idea that I had been confined to the prison of my past. I had no idea that I was confining myself as a result of events in my past. I had no idea that the work I did with Cindy would allow me to be forever changed. The GRM provided me tools to ensure that the future will not hinder my progess as well. While you can follow he program on your own, I cannot recommend choosing to follow the path of the program with a GRM practitioner enough. Cindy was the practitioner that truly made he difference. She was able to provide a perspective that would not have been possible on my own. Her presence as a guide and a witness was truly a blessing. I am forever grateful. I will be recommending her for the rest of my life. If you are willing to do the work that is asked of you and are ready to let go and truly move on, this is the program for you. I have changed the path of my life and I am forever grateful to Cindy for walking the path with me.

I participated in the pilot program more out of curiosity, and to be a warm body in the class since it was a 'pilot', but I was glad I did because I found out things about myself and my feelings that I didn't know were there. It was nice to be able to share my feelings with others and to be a "heart with ears" for the others. This was a positive experience for me and would definitely recommend it to others. I think it would be very beneficial to our Veterans here who have gone through, and are still going through, so much in their lives.

It helped me organize my thoughts and feelings after the violent suicide of my husband, by going back to my parents and reviewing my relationships with them and thinking how they had influenced my relationships since. Eventually I felt decompressed enough to tackle the immense grief over the loss of the love of my life.

I have been struggling with grief and loss of my family for many years. Trying to recover from my grief alone, I have suffered by being in a negative, reuminating loop.. All the negative thoughts, constantly circulating through my head, had adversely impacted my sleep, my day-to-day life, and prohibited me from building new relationshps. This program, and Deborah who worked with me, helped me to find ways to finally accept my losses. This acceptance has opened doors to new opportunities for really living life and again finding joy. I'm looking forward to each and every day and I'm sleeping much better!
