Gratitude folds itself into every forward step I take because of the valuable tools Debra compassionately and authentically helped me connect to my healing journey through the Grief Recovery Method Program. She facilitated this program with an open heart and helped guide me through my depths of brokenness while creating a big enough space to handle it all.

While working on a session on emotions in a group coaching program called Christian Brain Rewire, I had a conversation with Dr. Richelle about processing emotions. She told me she felt Grief Recovery would dovetail beautifully with what I was already doing, and might add some important insight. She was right! I began working with her and loved doing the timeline. Richelle's clear direction, excellent listening skills, and gentle encouragement allowed me to discover and deal with unresolved emotions that had been trapped over 75 years of living! I could see immediately that incomplete issues with religion / God/ faith was a pattern I wanted to deal with. We decided to resolve several close family relationships first, which I found very freeing. After that I was able to do the hard work of "connecting dots" by recognizing and resolving issues that had accumulated over the years regarding my faith in God. I was amazed to see that while I had consciously forgiven people who had mistreated or mislead me, I had never allowed myself to acknowledge or deal with the emotions connected with each incident. Grief Recovery gave me the tools to do that. I also realized I had things to say to God, as well as to myself! I was able to leave that final session forgiving those who lead me astray, and accepting God’s complete love, acceptance, and forgiveness. I was also able to forgive and accept myself. So freeing!

My facilitator, Miss Peggy Norton was amazing. She was able to make me feel comfortable to talk about my grief, but also create an environment of learning and understanding how I feel. I was able to connect with her even though our age range is very different and she was able to comfort me in my loss, but also teach me about grief and what I’m experiencing and what I’ve been through and also understand the feelings that I feel.
