The class let me let go of the life long feeling that I felt towards my father. I realize that dad was being supportive and understanding, and I was embarrassed that I had to repeat freshman year in college, and that he had to come and get me at school. I was embarrassed that I had failed.

I lost my son Andrew 30 months ago, then 2 months prior to start of my grief recovery I lost my second twin Adam to the same drug overdose, after Adam had been clean for 5 years, and had become a father and a very successful citizen. My other children had become estranged ever since Andrews death, and a lot of built up resentments had been consuming my daily thoughts, Tricia guided me through them in a way that I"am mentally disposing of them so I can proceed with a productive life style with my wife Leslie, and rid my daily anguish over their words and actions.I feel liberated and less anxious over thoughts of retaliation towards them. How to relinquish my thoughts of situations caused by the hostility aimed at me ,to stay positive and grieve for Adam & Andrew. To let go of negative thoughts. Tricia is a true Guardian Angel and this world is better off with her as a Grief Recovery Counselor. Tricia and her teachings are in my Heart & Soul for ever, God Bless Her and Pamela.

Overall very beneficial, I do think some of the material earlier in the book goes on for longer than necessary (myths, STERBS) and doesn't provide a ton of value. The later chapters (the loss history graph and on) are much more useful though, of course. Doing assignments, readings and meetings for all the earlier topics felt like a lot of effort for little payoff while waiting to get into the meatier stuff.

I’ve actually only checked outstanding, but all stars light up. In the beginning of the devastation of the loss of my husband, I knew I could not emotionally stay where I was. I had to understand why I was at the point I was and what was happening to my mind and emotions. The first night the floodgates opened and Vickie began to share the work that we all needed to do. I cannot adequately express my gratitude for the class, the program, the facilitator, and the overall set up of this program. It’s not a magic pill, but it is definitely a step in the right direction of beginning the journey of living again, and realizing life can be lived again. I cannot recommend this program enough. Thank you.

The star system does not seem to work - I would say outstanding I found it an amazing tool to examine my life - to get to the patterns that were there. And to finally come out of the head - (I apply logic to all of my life) and into the heart - to actually feel some of the losses. The program gave me a way to address the then identified issues. This without the trauma of a counselling that gets you to express anger immediately, with lots of tears. This appealed to me because I could examine everything with a clear head - not get into emotions first. It gave me compassion too for the constraints and losses. Grieving can be about many little things too. This has helped me, I think, to help others a little - at least in my new awareness of the pain of grieving. I had only worked with people who were dying before - but not the grieving process.

I feel this program is a perfect fit for me and my losses. I learned so much of this that I now can do more relationship graphs and letters to come to completion. I also have been praying about getting certified at some point.

Grief Recovery Method showed me how to look inside myself and unlock my feelings vice keeping them inside under the mask. Given me a deeper understanding of grief and loss. It also provided coping tools that have been so helpful to share with my family. The process was very intense for me and I’m very grateful for my coach. Maryna Dobro made me feel like I had a safe space to deal with my feelings. She was kind, caring and thoughtful. Thank you

The good-bye letter worked very well with the use of the graphs constructed during the course.

Writing that letter at the end and then reading it outloud (through the tears) helped to release the grief I was holding in. I didn't realise how much that grief was affecting me until it was gone. The only thing we didn't do that we should've was burn the letters at the end!
